Teledyne DALSA, a Teledyne Technologies company and provider of machine vision technology, has launched the Falcon4-CLHS M8200-Scientific, a new 67-megapixel area scan camera designed for life sciences, scientific imaging and precision measurement applications. The new camera expands Teledyne DALSA’s Falcon4-CLHS family and combines high resolution, low noise, strong sensitivity and fast image capture. It is designed to support applications where image quality, measurement accuracy and high throughput are critical.
The Falcon4-CLHS M8200-Scientific is built around a customized version of Teledyne e2v’s Emerald 67 MP CMOS image sensor. The camera delivers approximately 3 electrons of read noise, up to 64 dB of dynamic range and quantum efficiency of up to 70% at 550 nm. Factory calibration at the pixel level helps maintain consistent image quality for demanding quantitative imaging applications.
With an 8,192 × 8,192 square sensor and 2.5-micron pixels, the camera provides a large imaging area suited to high-resolution microscopy and other scientific applications. It can operate at speeds of up to 65 frames per second, supporting high-throughput workflows.
The new camera is designed for applications including whole-slide imaging, genomics, spatial omics, fluorescence microscopy, high-content screening, automated cell analysis, imaging cytometry and light-sheet microscopy. Its combination of low noise, high sensitivity and wide dynamic range also makes it suitable for precision metrology, semiconductor inspection, materials analysis and other industrial imaging applications.
“The Falcon4-CLHS M8200-Scientific extends the Falcon4-CLHS platform into demanding quantitative imaging applications,” said Manny Romero, Senior Product Manager at Teledyne. “It delivers 67 MP resolution together with high sensitivity, dynamic range, image consistency and measurement accuracy.”
The camera is supported by Teledyne’s broader imaging ecosystem, which includes image sensors, frame grabbers and software. This provides OEM developers with an integrated platform for building life science, scientific, semiconductor and industrial imaging systems.
The Falcon4-CLHS M8200-Scientific also supports manufacturers seeking consistent performance and long-term product availability for advanced imaging equipment. Its high-resolution sensor and high-speed operation are intended to improve the capture and analysis of detailed images while maintaining reliable performance. The camera is available for customers worldwide.
