Ola Electric has announced a major expansion of its retail strategy by opening its sales and service network to dealer partners across India. The move marks a significant shift in the company’s business model as it aims to strengthen its presence in smaller cities and towns while accelerating electric vehicle adoption across the country.
After building its market through company-owned stores over the past five years, Ola Electric is now partnering with independent dealers to expand its reach. The company said its existing outlets will continue to serve as brand and product experience centres, while dealer partners will lead local sales and after-sales service, helping the company scale its operations more efficiently.
The decision follows extensive discussions with dealers across the country over the past month. According to the company, the response has been encouraging, with dealer partners expressing confidence in Ola Electric’s product portfolio and long-term growth potential. Ola Electric aims to establish a full-fledged dealership network across India by Diwali 2026.
Chairman and Managing Director Bhavish Aggarwal said the new approach reflects the rapid growth and increasing acceptance of electric vehicles in India. He noted that the company initially relied on company-owned stores to build customer confidence and increase awareness about electric mobility. With the market now more mature, Ola Electric believes local dealer partners are better positioned to expand its presence across diverse markets while offering customers easier access to products and services.
As part of the new dealership programme, partners will gain access to Ola Electric’s established brand, a customer base of more than one million EV riders, and a complete portfolio of electric mobility products. This includes electric scooters, motorcycles and energy solutions under the Ola Shakti brand, with additional products expected to be introduced in the future. The company has also designed a business model aimed at delivering sustainable returns for dealer partners. In another key development, BVR Subbu, former President of Hyundai Motor India, has rejoined Ola Electric as Senior Advisor. Mr Subbu previously served on the company’s board and will support the execution of the nationwide dealership expansion.
Ola Electric continues to strengthen its manufacturing and technology capabilities through its integrated operations. The company manufactures electric vehicles and key components, including battery packs, motors and vehicle frames, at its Ola Futurefactory in Tamil Nadu. Its research and development activities are supported by engineering teams in India, the United Kingdom and the United States, along with the Battery Innovation Centre in Bengaluru. With more than 4,000 company-owned retail outlets already operating across India, the new dealer-led model is expected to significantly expand Ola Electric’s footprint and support the next phase of growth in India’s electric mobility market.
