Honeywell Aerospace has announced strong growth in its European defence business as demand rises for advanced navigation technologies across the region. The company said its Civitanavi Systems inertial navigation solutions are now supporting defence programmes in Ukraine, Poland, Italy, the United Kingdom and several other European markets, reflecting increasing investment in regional defence capabilities and secure supply chains.

The growing demand follows Honeywell Aerospace’s acquisition of Civitanavi Systems in 2024, strengthening its portfolio of European-built navigation technologies. The company said the expansion is being driven by defence customers seeking trusted suppliers capable of delivering advanced technologies while ensuring manufacturing capacity and reliable delivery schedules.

Honeywell Aerospace has established a significant presence in Ukraine through partnerships developed over the past several years. Among them is its collaboration with Luch Design Bureau, one of Ukraine’s leading missile and precision weapons developers. The partnership includes the supply of precision navigation technologies developed in the United States and the European Union to support the country’s ongoing defence requirements. The company noted that demand for Civitanavi Systems’ inertial measurement units has increased as military programmes require navigation systems capable of maintaining accuracy even in environments where GPS or satellite signals are disrupted.

Matt Milas, President of Defense and Space at Honeywell Aerospace, said European defence programmes are entering a new phase of long-term investment. “Across Europe, defence spending continues to accelerate as governments strengthen national security capabilities. Customers are looking for reliable partners with proven technologies, manufacturing capacity and dependable supply chains. Through Civitanavi Systems and Honeywell Aerospace’s global presence, we are well positioned to support these evolving requirements,” he said.

One of the company’s flagship products, the ARGO 4000 Inertial Measurement Unit, has become a preferred navigation solution for defence manufacturers developing missile systems, unmanned platforms, naval vessels and military land vehicles. The system is designed to provide highly accurate positioning even when GPS signals are unavailable due to jamming, spoofing or electronic interference.

Mike Vallillo, Vice President of International Defense and Space at Honeywell Aerospace, said the European origin of Civitanavi Systems’ products has become an important advantage in the regional market. “Many European customers now place greater emphasis on locally developed technologies. Civitanavi Systems provides a strong European manufacturing base, while Honeywell’s global capabilities allow us to expand customer support and production capacity across multiple regions,”Mr Vallillo said.

Honeywell Aerospace said the acquisition has significantly expanded its opportunities across Europe by combining Civitanavi Systems’ specialised navigation expertise with Honeywell’s global sales network, engineering resources and manufacturing infrastructure. The company continues to pursue new defence programmes as European governments increase investment in next-generation missile systems, autonomous platforms and air defence technologies.

The expansion also comes as NATO member countries continue to increase defence spending, creating sustained demand for advanced guidance and navigation systems that meet allied supply chain requirements. Honeywell Aerospace expects further growth across Europe as additional programmes move into production and new customer partnerships are established.
