From rural Rajasthan to global workplaces, Hindustan Zinc’s flagship skilling initiative, Zinc Kaushal, is transforming the lives of young people by equipping them with industry-relevant skills and sustainable livelihood opportunities. Since its launch in 2019, the programme has trained more than 10,000 rural and tribal youth across Rajasthan and Uttarakhand, enabling them to build successful careers across diverse sectors.
With an investment of ₹26 crore, Zinc Kaushal focuses on creating inclusive employment opportunities, with women accounting for 45% of the total trainees. The programme has achieved an 83% placement rate, helping thousands of young professionals secure opportunities with reputed organizations including Tata Consultancy Services, Foxconn, Honda, Marella Cruises and GMR Group.
One such success story is that of Deepika from Bhamniya Khet near Udaipur. With limited resources and exposure, she enrolled in Zinc Kaushal’s Food & Beverage Services training programme. The skills and confidence gained through the initiative helped her secure a global hospitality career with Marella Cruises in Spain, demonstrating the potential of rural youth when provided with the right opportunities.
In FY2026 alone, Zinc Kaushal trained more than 2,600 youth, including 420 candidates through collaborations with organizations such as NABARD, JK Cement, YES Foundation and Bajaj Finserv. The programme also achieved a significant milestone by ensuring 100% placement for a special batch of deaf and mute trainees at leading hospitality brands including Taj Fateh Prakash, Radisson Blu and The Fern Residency.
The initiative has also supported youth with disabilities through inclusive skill development. Wasif, a young man from Udaipur who was born deaf, completed hospitality training through Zinc Kaushal and began his professional journey with Ramada. He currently works as a Guest Service Associate at Taj Aravali and mentors other hearing-impaired youth, helping create greater inclusion within the workforce.
Beyond employment generation, Zinc Kaushal focuses on community development through strategic partnerships and local collaborations. The programme works with Ambuja Foundation and Tata Strive across six skilling centres in Rajasthan — Debari, Dariba, Zawar, Chittorgarh, Agucha and Kayad — and was previously operational in Pantnagar, Uttarakhand. Its impact has been recognized through four district-level awards from the Government of Rajasthan for contributions to youth employability.
Through initiatives such as Zinc Kaushal, Hindustan Zinc continues to advance its commitment toward education, employment and equitable growth. The programme reflects the company’s vision of empowering communities by bridging the gap between talent and opportunity, enabling young people to achieve economic independence and contribute to India’s workforce development.
