TVS Motor Company marked World Environment Day 2026 by hosting a multi-stakeholder workshop focused on advancing nature-positive and climate-resilient business practices. Organized in partnership with the UN Global Compact Network India at the TVS Institute for Quality and Leadership in Anekal, Bengaluru, the event brought together representatives from industry, academia, policy institutions and civil society to explore practical approaches for integrating environmental stewardship into business strategy.
Held under the theme “Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future.”, the workshop featured participation from senior government officials, sustainability experts, business leaders and research institutions. Discussions centered on the growing importance of biodiversity conservation, ecosystem protection and climate resilience in shaping long-term economic growth and enterprise value.
As part of the event, TVS Motor Company unveiled a white paper titled “Nature Capital as a Strategic Business Imperative in India: Linking Ecosystem Services, Enterprise Value, and Risk Management in a Nature-Positive Transition.” Developed jointly with PwC and TERI School of Advanced Studies, the publication examines how ecosystem services such as water, biodiversity, soil health and climate regulation contribute to business resilience and value creation. The paper also highlights the financial and operational risks associated with ecosystem degradation and provides insights into incorporating nature-related considerations into governance, strategy, risk management and reporting frameworks.
Speaking at the event, Thakur Pherwani, Chief Sustainability Officer at TVS Motor Company, said that nature plays a central role in economic resilience, community well-being and the future of mobility. He noted that sustainability considerations are increasingly integrated into product development, operations, supply chains and partnerships across the organization.
The company also launched its inaugural Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD)-aligned report, titled “Mobility in Harmony with Nature.” The report positions TVS Motor Company among the early adopters of nature-related disclosure practices within the Indian automotive sector and outlines the company’s approach to identifying, assessing and managing nature-related risks and opportunities.
TVS Motor Company continues to strengthen its environmental performance across operations. Three of its manufacturing facilities in India have achieved Zero Waste to Landfill and Net Water Positive status. The company has also expanded renewable energy usage across its operations, with approximately 97 percent of electricity consumption in India sourced from renewable energy.
In addition, TVS Motor Company is advancing circular economy initiatives through sustainable product design, electric mobility solutions and material recovery programs. The company has also established a Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility to support responsible vehicle dismantling, recycling and resource recovery in line with India’s End-of-Life Vehicle regulations.
