Loom Solar has introduced its Fusion Hybrid Inverter and CAML LiFePO4 Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) as a solution designed to help households in Bihar reduce electricity expenses under the state’s newly implemented Time-of-Day (ToD) tariff framework. The Bihar Electricity Regulatory Commission has introduced ToD pricing for more than 8.7 million smart prepaid meter consumers across the state. Under the revised structure, electricity consumed between 9 AM and 5 PM is billed at a discounted rate, while usage during the peak evening period from 5 PM to 11 PM attracts a higher tariff. The off-peak period between 11 PM and 9 AM remains the most economical window for power consumption and battery charging.
Loom Solar’s integrated energy storage solution has been developed to automatically optimise electricity usage according to these tariff schedules. The Fusion Hybrid Inverter includes Time of Use scheduling functionality, enabling the system to charge batteries using rooftop solar energy or lower-cost grid power during off-peak periods and discharge stored energy during high-cost evening hours. According to the company, the system operates automatically without requiring manual intervention from users, helping households reduce dependence on expensive peak-hour grid electricity while maintaining uninterrupted power availability.
Amod Anand, Co-Founder and Director of Loom Solar, said the ToD framework creates an opportunity for consumers to actively manage electricity costs through intelligent energy storage systems. “Our hybrid inverter and battery solution is designed to automatically respond to tariff variations and optimise household energy consumption patterns, enabling consumers to reduce electricity expenses without changing their daily routines,” he said.
The company estimates that households shifting approximately five units of evening electricity usage to stored solar energy can achieve monthly savings of up to ₹1,500. Even when charging batteries using lower-cost off-peak grid electricity instead of solar power, consumers can still benefit from measurable savings through automated energy management.
The CAML battery system uses LiFePO4 chemistry and is rated for approximately 6,000 charge cycles at 80 percent depth of discharge, providing an expected operational lifespan of 10 to 15 years. The battery also carries an IP65 rating, supporting reliable performance under varying weather conditions including heat and humidity.
Loom Solar stated that the same battery and inverter technologies are scalable across residential, commercial, industrial, and utility-scale applications, with storage capacities ranging from 1 kWh to 5 MWh. The company positions itself as a full-spectrum energy storage provider supporting India’s transition toward more resilient and decentralised energy infrastructure.
The systems are also eligible under the Government of India’s PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, which offers subsidies of up to ₹78,000 for qualifying rooftop solar installations. According to Loom Solar, this subsidy support can help households recover the additional investment associated with hybrid solar systems within three to four years.
