Microchip Technology Inc has announced the launch of its new dsPIC33CK Value Line family of Digital Signal Controllers (DSCs), designed to provide cost-effective real-time control performance for applications requiring precision, reliability, and simplified system design. The new family of DSCs has been developed to support engineers working on motor control, touch sensing, industrial automation, automotive systems, and precision power applications where balancing performance, integration, and cost efficiency is increasingly important.
The dsPIC33CK Value Line combines deterministic processing speeds of up to 100 MHz with high-resolution pulse-width modulation and a 12-bit analog-to-digital converter, enabling advanced real-time control functions such as motor field-oriented control and precision sensing without the need for unnecessary high-end features. According to Microchip, the devices integrate a broad set of peripherals into a single chip, allowing designers to reduce external components, simplify printed circuit board layouts, and lower overall bill-of-material costs. The family also offers scalable Flash memory configurations ranging from 32 KB to 256 KB, while maintaining compatibility with the broader dsPIC33CK ecosystem for future scalability.
Joe Thomsen, Corporate Vice President of Microchip’s Digital Signal Controller Business Unit, said many applications require dependable control performance without the complexity or cost of premium solutions. “The dsPIC33CK Value Line has been designed to deliver the essential capabilities engineers rely on most while simplifying development and helping customers manage long-term system costs more effectively,” he said.
Microchip stated that the Value Line DSCs feature consistent pricing across different order volumes, enabling customers to streamline early-stage evaluation, budgeting, and production planning. The devices also support automotive-grade reliability with AEC-Q100 Grade 1 qualification and integrated security capabilities for secure boot and firmware update implementation.
The controllers provide up to 2 ns PWM resolution across eight channels and support analog-to-digital conversion speeds of up to 2 MSPS. Additional integrated peripherals include CAN FD, LIN, SENT, UART, SPI, and I²C communication interfaces, helping support complex embedded control systems across industrial, automotive, consumer, and medical applications.
By integrating precise control, communications, and sensing functions within a single device, the dsPIC33CK Value Line is intended to simplify system architecture while delivering reliable performance for demanding real-time applications. Microchip continues to expand its digital signal controller portfolio to support developers building energy-efficient, intelligent, and cost-sensitive embedded systems across global markets.
