Toshiba Transmission & Distribution Systems (India) Private Limited has received the National Award for Outstanding Export Performance at the 57th EEPC India National Awards for the financial year 2024–25, marking the seventh time the company has earned the prestigious recognition. The company secured top honours in the Group 10 category covering Electrical Machinery and Parts for Large Enterprises. The award highlights TTDI’s continued contribution toward strengthening India’s engineering exports and expanding the country’s position as a global manufacturing hub for advanced transmission and distribution equipment.
The award was presented by Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa to Hiroshi Furuta, Chairman and Managing Director of TTDI, during the awards ceremony organised by EEPC India. TTDI stated that the recognition reflects the company’s long-standing commitment to delivering globally competitive power transmission and distribution solutions manufactured in India while supporting the Government of India’s Make in India initiative.
Accepting the award on behalf of the company, Hiroshi Furuta said the recognition reaffirms Toshiba’s commitment toward strengthening India’s role as a global manufacturing and export base for high-quality electrical and energy infrastructure equipment. He noted that TTDI serves as a core manufacturing and engineering hub within the global transmission and distribution business operations of the Toshiba Group.
According to Mr Furuta, transformers and switchgear systems manufactured at the company’s Indian facilities are currently being supplied to infrastructure and energy projects across more than 50 countries worldwide. He added that the company remains focused on supporting the global transition toward cleaner and more reliable energy systems through innovation, engineering excellence and advanced manufacturing capabilities.
Operating from its manufacturing facility in Rudraram, Telangana, TTDI produces a broad portfolio of transmission and distribution products including power transformers, distribution transformers, gas insulated switchgear systems, surge arresters and protection and automation solutions.
The company also provides integrated packaged and turnkey solutions supporting energy infrastructure expansion and grid modernisation initiatives. TTDI highlighted its growing focus on advanced solutions such as outdoor-type gas insulated switchgear systems designed for open installations, which are increasingly important in renewable energy integration and modern power transmission networks.
Industry experts note that India’s electrical equipment manufacturing sector has gained strong momentum over recent years as global companies increasingly look toward India as a reliable manufacturing and export destination. Demand for advanced transmission and distribution infrastructure is also expected to rise significantly due to the rapid expansion of renewable energy capacity, electrification projects and power grid modernisation efforts worldwide.
