Retech, a company within the SECO/WARWICK Group, has announced the supply of two customised Vacuum Induction Melting (VIM) casting systems to a long-standing international customer serving the power generation turbine industry. The new systems have been designed to support equiaxed (EQ) and directionally solidified (DS) casting processes used in the production of advanced nickel-based alloy turbine components. These specialised casting methods are essential for manufacturing parts that require high structural strength, heat resistance and consistent performance in demanding operating environments.
Modern power generation turbines operate under extreme temperatures and pressure conditions, making material quality and casting precision critical to long-term reliability. Nickel-based superalloys are widely used in turbine blades and related components because of their ability to maintain strength and stability under severe thermal stress.
The two VIM systems are built on Retech’s established furnace platforms while incorporating several customer-specific enhancements. The project highlights the company’s focus on delivering engineered solutions designed around production requirements rather than standard off-the-shelf equipment.
For this installation, Retech developed tailored feeder configurations to match the customer’s existing manufacturing processes. The design enables efficient and repeatable casting while maintaining precise control over temperature, atmosphere and melt quality throughout production. Such control is vital for producing turbine components with the metallurgical properties required for critical power generation applications.
Earl Good, President of Retech, said customisation remains central to the company’s approach to every project. He noted that the systems were designed to build upon earlier installations while incorporating requested modifications to support both present operations and future production plans.
The latest order extends a relationship between Retech and the customer that began in the 1980s. Several legacy Retech furnaces installed at the customer’s facility continue to operate today, demonstrating the durability, serviceability and long-term value of the company’s equipment.
Retech said the customer has also indicated plans for further capacity expansion in the coming years. These plans may include additional equipment purchases and phased replacement of older furnace systems as production requirements grow.
With an extensive installed base worldwide, Retech is recognised for its expertise in vacuum melting, refining and casting technologies used in industries where metallurgical precision is essential. The company supports customers across power generation, aerospace and advanced materials sectors with equipment designed for high-performance manufacturing environments.
The latest contract reinforces demand for specialised melting and casting systems as turbine manufacturers continue to invest in efficiency, reliability and next-generation materials. It also underlines Retech’s position as a trusted technology partner for customers seeking long-term production capability and customised process solutions.
