This groundbreaking program, supported by Google, provides 100% fee scholarships and internship opportunities to 50 selected third-year Women Engineering students. WISH draws inspiration from the highly successful Women Engineers (WE) program by TalentSprint, also backed by Google.
Since its inception in 2019, the WE program has positively impacted the lives of more than 950 women software engineers, facilitating their career beginnings with top tech firms worldwide. Expanding on the success of WE, the WISH initiative aims to equip students with essential skills and knowledge in technology, soft skills, and tools relevant to the hardware industry through online training.
Santanu Paul, the CEO and MD of TalentSprint, emphasised the importance of Google’s ongoing support for initiatives like WE and TechWise, highlighting WISH as a significant addition to their efforts in DEI. The WISH program is carefully designed to address barriers in the hardware industry by nurturing a skilled group of women for the semiconductor sector. Through practical training and collaborative learning, WISH aims to elevate women in silicon hardware engineering, reshaping the tech field into a more inclusive and fairer environment.
This initiative comprises an immersive physical boot camp hosted at a Google Site, complemented by subsequent internship prospects. A cohort of 50 students will be chosen to partake in this program, benefiting from personalized instruction by TalentSprint faculty and guidance from seasoned Google professionals, all aimed at preparing them for the demands of the industry.
Partha Ranganathan, VP-Technical Fellow at Google, emphasised the significance of supporting TalentSprint’s WISH program, stating that it reflects Google’s ongoing commitment to diversity in the global tech workforce. He highlighted the program’s goal of empowering women to take leadership roles in the semiconductor and hardware industries, aligning with Google’s vision of promoting workforce diversity, fostering a culture of inclusivity, and ensuring equal opportunities for all.
