Spanning over three decades, Megha’s journey at Radix showcases extraordinary capability and efficiency. Her blend of leadership prowess and technical expertise has been instrumental in navigating the company through the evolving landscapes of the manufacturing sector.
Starting her career as an electronic engineer with a subcontractor of Philips, Megha Rabade gained valuable experience in quality control while working on Philips products. However, her transition to Radix ElectroSystems Pvt Ltd marked the beginning of a transformative chapter in her professional life. Radix, a Mumbai-based company specialising in process instrumentation and control products, provided Megha with an opportunity to not only utilise her technical expertise but also to explore the complexities of commercial operations.
Upon joining Radix in January 1991, at just 21, Megha assumed the role of a production in-charge, tasked with leading the company’s new unit in Pune. Commencing the unit with just four operators and two engineers, this venture presented various challenges, from setting up manufacturing processes to navigating administrative complexities such as central excise and export procedures. Unshaken by the steep learning curve, Megha approached her responsibilities with determination and a willingness to learn, earning her colleagues’ and superiors’ trust and confidence.
Over the years, Megha’s role evolved, eventually leading to her current position as a senior manager of production at Radix. Her journey highlights the importance of taking ownership of one’s work and embracing challenges as opportunities for growth. Megha’s resilience and adaptability enabled her to navigate the ever-changing landscape of the manufacturing industry, positioning her as a key contributor to Radix’s success.
At Radix, Megha has witnessed the company’s remarkable growth, including reaching a sales milestone of 100 crores. This achievement demonstrates Radix’s commitment to excellence and Megha’s leadership in driving operational efficiency and innovation. Looking ahead, Megha remains optimistic about the company’s future, envisioning continued growth and expansion into new markets and product lines.
Megha’s success story is about breaking barriers and challenging stereotypes in the manufacturing sector, which helped her acquire a lot of personal achievements throughout the journey. With more than 75% of Radix’s workforce comprising women, Megha emphasises the importance of recognising and supporting women in traditionally male-dominated industries. She advocates for gender equality in wages and opportunities, highlighting the invaluable contributions of women to the manufacturing sector’s success.
One incident from Megha’s career that she says she will never forget dates back to the COVID-19 pandemic when all the companies had to close down their shutters. However, Radix remained operational for a very noble cause, contributing to the making of vaccines by the Serum Institute of India and another company called Bharat Biotech. Despite challenges such as labor and travel restrictions, they were able to fulfill orders within the designated time frame. Reflecting on this incident, Megha says, ‘It was a very tough period, but helping for a noble cause feels fascinating, and we are so proud of it.’
