How Laser Technologies are empowering Women on Shop-floors?

LTPL was established in the year 2011 by Rakesh Agarwal, Pankti Agarwal, and a group of technocrats, and they evolved as not only a leading manufacturer of laser cutting machines but also a pioneer in breaking the myth by employing women who operate, manage, and direct the shopfloor at their company.

The traditional positioning of women in the manufacturing sector had curbed their potential and hence growth. ‘Women can’t run a complicated machine, let alone laser machines’ said the world, but defied by a group of women at Laser Technologies, led by its Director Pankti Agarwal. They were, in historical times, associated with the pink-collar professions, while the men were the blue-collar ones. Although this may have been true in the past, it is not the same anymore. Along with modernization, the world is changing and women are pioneers of this change.

Laser Technologies Private Limited (LTPT) has entered this industry and is endeavouring to help catalyze this change. LTPT offers innovative yet affordable solutions ranging from Laser Marking, Laser Welding, 2D Laser Cutting, 3D Laser Cutting, Laser Cladding, and Laser Hardening. They are not only a leader in manufacturing and exporting laser technologies but also a company where women lead and play central major roles in production, operations, management, and direction. This was their initial step in undoing the discrepancies that exist in this field leading to a paradigm shift in attitudes and thoughts, working towards a progressive, and inclusive society.

LTPL came about in the year 2011 at the hands of Rakesh Agarwal and a group of technocrats including Pankti Agarwal. Since its inception based out of Navi-Mumbai, adjacent to India’s commercial capital, Mumbai, they are serving the Indian market with a wide range of lasers and applications to address needs from laser cutting, laser welding, metal hardening and cladding, sheet and tube cutting, electro-lamination, plotting and marking with the best products that they source from all over the world.

The lives of the women working in LTPT revolve around complicated manufacturing machines, where operation is located at the heart. In modern times, the industry which was once a mainstay of men is now a testimonial of the increasing participation of women who sustain the right knowledge of the software. Similarly, in LTPL the employment procedure encourages and assures gainful women employees by providing them all the right means of operating the machines, and sharing experience and knowledge. Women then get a new avenue, employment, skill up-gradation, and most of all, confidence in themselves that makes them sharp, efficient, and effective at all times, like the lasers of LTPL.

This change came about when one day, based on one of their women who had then been interested in engineering showed interest in running the machine and operated the laser cutting machine with surprising ease. This got the company to look at more such women on board and inspire women around. Pankti Agarwal, an engineer by qualification, began this hunt for locating more women to work for the company. What followed next, was nothing short of a revolution!

Cutting Edge Laser Solutions with Gender Inclusiveness

Lasers were introduced in the market decades back and found wholehearted acceptance from the industry due to the competitive edge they gave organizations and their products with higher speed, precision, and saving of resources. Lasers also provide organizations the ability to process a wide range of materials from metals to plastics, wood, gemstone, glass, and even paper- without the need to develop and employ complex, customized tooling, jigs, fixtures, and rigs. The right laser thus provides the right cutting edge and is a must.

In a span of a decade, LTPL with its well-provided sales and service offices countrywide now has a presence in almost all parts of India. They are giving their after-sales services and trouble-shooting a new meaning through their services! IMTEX 2022 at the Bengaluru International Exhibition Center, Bengaluru, was the perfect venue for them to gauge the abilities of Laser Technologies. Foremost in their line-up at IMTEX besides their formidable machines was employing and promoting the employment of women in the operation of machines.

Elaborating on the machine that was featured at the IMTEX 2022 and its abilities, Pankti Agarwal says that the Laser Cutting Machine HSG 3015X with the highest power of 23 kW, the highest power level in India. It is an advanced laser that can cut perfect shapes in sheet metals varying in thickness with the software becoming the center. With the features of value input, this machine is user-friendly allowing the user to receive flawless output, perfect in every sense, low on wastage, and quick on turn-arounds.

The only external force for this is the right operator and at their end, in almost all cases, the operators are women who have over the years perfected the ability to use them the right way, besides mentoring others in this direction. The success mantra of LTPL currently, is its employees and leaders who believe in inclusivity which is given a cutting edge by LTPL’s laser-cutting solutions!
