Messe Düsseldorf Triumphantly Introduces GIFA and METEC to Indonesia
Messe Düsseldorf, a global leader in organising trade shows, marked the triumphant debut of GIFA and METEC INDONESIA in Jakarta from September 13 to 16, 2023. These events have swiftly emerged as the preeminent platforms for Indonesia’s burgeoning metallurgical and foundry industries. With participation from approximately 200 exhibitors representing 18 countries and over 4,900 trade visitors encompassing various sectors of the foundry and metallurgical industries, the inaugural exhibitions were held at the JIEXPO Convention Center.

This dynamic trade show duo showcased an extensive array of machinery, equipment, and cutting-edge technologies, ranging from additive manufacturing and foundry machinery to processing equipment and novel solutions for multiple vertical markets, including the automotive sector, construction industry, energy, and gas, as well as metal and steel plants. In addition to the impressive exhibitor displays, high-level seminars, and an international lecture series delved into contemporary industry trends, fostering invaluable discussions and facilitating the exchange of knowledge among industry experts.

Malte Seifert, Director of “The Bright World of Metals” at Messe Düsseldorf, underscored Indonesia’s substantial business potential and hailed the successful launch of GIFA and METEC INDONESIA. He remarked, “We are delighted to see how well the trade audience received our new GIFA and METEC satellite shows for the Asian market. They were in parallel with the 20th Mining Indonesia, Southeast Asia’s largest international trade show for mining equipment, mineral extraction, and processing. Together, the events form an integrated business platform for the mining, metallurgy, and foundry supply chain, providing all participants with valuable synergy effects.

Beyond this, Indonesia offers a large market for the foundry and metallurgical industries and, hence, great business potential. European companies seeking new, important market partners and wanting to stay competitive, have to come to Jakarta because Indonesia is becoming increasingly important as an emerging nation in the strategically relevant region of Asia. With GIFA and METEC Indonesia, we offer a unique know-how transfer not available at any other trade show in this market.”

GIFA and METEC INDONESIA garnered acclaim from expert audiences and international companies for the breadth of their offerings. Jan Eilers, General Manager at MAGMA ENGINEERING ASIA-PACIFIC PTE LTD, expressed his perspective, stating, “GIFA Indonesia is an important event providing the sector with an outstanding platform for presenting technology innovations. We managed to personally talk to industry leaders, thereby promoting cooperation and knowledge exchange. Although this was only the first event, we are convinced that it will play a decisive role in driving technological progress and conserving the irreplaceable value of personal contacts in the Indonesian exhibition landscape”

Dr. Jan-Chr. Schrag, Managing Director of CS Additive GmbH

Dr. Jan-Chr. Schrag, Managing Director of CS Additive GmbH, a market leader for low-sulfur carburizing pellets, emphasized, “The participation in the well-attended trade show in Indonesia proved a success for our company. It is an important support for our market development in Southeast Asia. We had promising talks with customers, collecting important information. We look forward to the participation next year.”

Behind the success of these new trade shows stands Messe Düsseldorf Asia (MDA), based in Singapore, which is Messe Düsseldorf Group’s subsidiary for the Southeast Asian market. MDA, in collaboration with PT Pamerindo Indonesia, a leading trade show organizer and a part of Informa Markets, one of the world’s largest trade show companies, has been instrumental in bringing these platforms to life.

The dates for GIFA and METEC INDONESIA 2024 have already been confirmed, and industry enthusiasts can mark their calendars for September 11 to 14, at the JIExpo Convention Centre in Jakarta next season.

In an industry continuously striving for innovation and excellence, GIFA and METEC INDONESIA have taken the lead in providing an inclusive platform for sharing knowledge, networking, and showcasing the latest advancements. The success of these events underlines the importance of Indonesia in the global metallurgy and foundry landscape and offers promising opportunities for future partnerships, technological progress, and business growth.
