New E4Q e-chain with extender crossbars for safe guidance of large hoses

Igus GmbH has introduced a new extender crossbar design for its E4Q modular energy chain series to safely guide large hoses. The chain can be individually adapted to the hose diameter with the help of an adapter system, and the E4Q opening mechanism allows for easy installation and filling of the energy supply without the need for tools. The E4Q energy chain series was launched in 2019 and is known for its modularity and ability to save assembly time and weight.

Igus has developed a new design for its E4Q modular energy chain series to safely guide large hoses. The extender crossbar design, along with a clever adapter system, allows the chain to be adjusted according to the diameter of the hose. Additionally, the E4Q opening mechanism does not require tools, making installation and energy supply filling easy.

In 2019, igus introduced the E4Q series of energy chains, which have already been used in various applications worldwide, from linear robots to machine tools. The E4Q is a popular choice due to its modularity and ability to handle long unsupported lengths and travels. Compared to the standard E4.1 series, it can save users 40% assembly time and 10% weight.

According to Phillip Hagedorn, Product Manager of e-chains at igus GmbH, some customers expressed interest in guiding large hoses alongside cables, which led to the development of the E4Q e-chain with extender crossbars in a design study. The extender crossbar can be mounted on the energy chain with the adapter system, and the E4Q crossbars can be used for inserting hoses, providing users with a high level of flexibility when configuring their energy supply.

Safely Guide Hoses and Cables Together Using a Single System

To adapt the extender crossbar to the hose diameter, igus GmbH has developed two different widths and heights of adapters. According to Phillip Hagedorn, the use of extender crossbars significantly increases the interior space of the energy chain, allowing other cables to be routed along with the hoses. This added flexibility in cable management allows for a more efficient and organized energy supply system.

Using extender crossbars in the energy chain significantly increases the interior space, allowing other cables to be accommodated and routed along with the hoses. The product range of cable-friendly interior separation elements allows for easy division of the energy chain, giving customers the ability to lay out their cables and hoses as desired. With the new e-chain with extender crossbars, users can save costs by using a smaller chain with extended crossbars for more inner height instead of a larger energy chain.
