In the dynamic landscape of technology, where innovation is the heartbeat of progress, Formlabs recently launched Form 4, a 4th generation desktop resin 3D printer, a game-changing revolution in the rapidly evolving field of technology. In an exclusive conversation with Amod Satarkar and Ramnish Sharma, they elucidated the revolutionary journey of 3D printing, showcasing the disruptive potential of Form 4, and capturing their thoughts on the technology shift.

In the field of 3D printing, Form 4 stands out as an advancement of evolution from conventional printing techniques. Formlabs set out to revolutionise the fundamentals of 3D printing technology with an uncompromising dedication to professionalism, dependability, and reproducibility.

Significant transformation

The automotive and aerospace industries have witnessed a significant transformation in the last ten years as 3D printing has spread to a wide range of industries. Technology was democratised by Formlabs, making it more affordable and accessible, which sparked a broad acceptance in the consumer goods, electronics, medical, and other industries.

LFD Technology

The basis of Form 4 is the innovative LED-based LFD (Low Force Display Stereolithography) technology, which beats its predecessors with speed and accuracy never seen before. This innovative method transforms the printing industry by ensuring perfect surface finish and increasing throughput

Enhancing the Ecosystem

Formlabs presents an integrated solution in acknowledging the importance of post-processing in fine-tuning 3D-printed components. The Wash and Cure system, in conjunction with customised finishing tools, simplifies the process from print to product and represents a holistic approach for user efficiency and convenience.

A new era of opportunities across industries, from dentistry to automobiles, from higher academic institutions to large manufacturing corporations, will be conquered by this innovative technology. Form 4 emerges as an engine for growth and transformation by empowering rapid invention and surpassing the limitations of traditional manufacturing.

Formlabs
Ramnish Sharma

Ramnish Sharma, Country Manager, Formlabs India, affirms, the essence lies in empowering customers with tangible value, fostering a legacy of trust and innovation. He emphasized, the sensitive nature of the Indian market, stating, “While price sensitivity is inherent, it cannot be attributed solely to a preference for cheap products.”

Mr Sharma highlighted the complex structure of the Indian market. “Value is more important to us than just affordability. For example, we are more likely to invest in the product that costs Rs 100,000 if it offers similar value to one that costs Rs 5000 and delivers significant value. Providing our clients with unmatched value is the core of Form 4. Our goal is for users to get a significant return on their investment with Form 4 within six months to a year of using it. This market response confirms our commitment to provide long-lasting value and is highly resonated.”

Imaginarium
Amod Satarkar

Speaking on behalf of both Formlabs and Imaginarium, Vice President of Sales, Amod Satarkar highlighted, the two companies' cooperative relationship and extensive involvement with end users and a range of applications. He emphasised the importance of Formlabs' customer-centric culture and the vital feedback loop that Imaginarium and Formlabs have, which affects the latter's research and development efforts.

Mr Satarkar explained how Form 2 evolved into Form 4, pointing out the fundamental elements like SLA properties that made it possible for component printing to go smoothly and for prototyping to happen quickly. He did, however, spot a crucial weakness in the ability to support customers' rapid iterations – a skill necessary for agile design processes.

Mr Satarkar highlighted the critical significance that faster printing speeds play in facilitating quick iterations, highlighting Formlabs' creative strategy in introducing LFD (Low Force Display Stereolithography) technology. By addressing the prior barrier, this ground-breaking solution enables users to effortlessly accomplish numerous design and production goals.

In summary, Mr Satarkar emphasised how Formlabs dedication to innovation and their ability to adapt to user needs had essentially ushered in a new era of 3D printing efficiency and agility.
