- AjnaTX, developed by Ajna Lens, is AI-powered mixed reality glasses
- This hi-tech device can screen 300 people within 3 minutes from 3 meter distance
- The startup is also developing glasses to make remote learning experience interactive with AR/VR headset
It is an assumed reality that as COVID-19 refuses to go away, we have to cope up with it and start normalizing and brace up ourselves with personal protective gears and equipment to keep it at bay. The number and scale of innovations to tackle the pandemic has been quite phenomenal in India and exemplary for the world.
Rightly in line with this idea, Ajna Lens, a Mumbai based startup has developed a set wearable of AI-powered glasses ‘AjnaTX’ that can scan up to 300 people within 3 minutes from a distance of 3 metres. Sound like a sci-fi movie right? Well, Ajna Lens is known for developing such hi-tech wearable devices and this is not the first time. The startup has developed many such devices and has also acquired a defence contract from the Indian Army. Founded in November 2014, Ajna Lens has been developing such AI-powered mixed reality glasses.
Rishi Desai, senior marketing strategist of Ajna Lens spoke to Machine Maker in context of their new ‘Ajna TX’ glasses. Talking about the idea of developing such glasses Rishi said, “One of the core philosophies of our company is identifying problems that are causing major pain for the people and building solutions around that. We were already working on certain solutions for defence and homeland security when the pandemic hit our country. After the lockdown, we decided to address the biggest ongoing problem leveraging our existing technology. We also interacted with government officials, doctors, and the public to understand their biggest concerns and problems. That is when we were recognized that the biggest challenge and threat in front of us is the rapid spread of Coronavirus due to community transmission, as social activity starts after unlocking. We have also successfully tested the product internally before launching.”
Timely Innovation for COVID-19 Pandemic
India has recently crossed 4,75,000 cases of Coronavirus. As one infected person in the crowd can lead to the devastating second wave of Coronavirus and forcing us again to lockdown offices, areas, cities, or even the whole nation, it is very critical to strictly enforce protection norms such as compulsory thermal screening, wearing face masks, and maintaining social distance. It is equally important to make sure that quarantined people do not break the law and come out on the streets.
This process is extremely challenging, intimidating, and extensive resource consuming for crowded places like airports, railway stations, hospitals, private offices, hotels, malls, universities, busy streets, etc. It is also risky for policemen or security personnel who are screening hundreds of people every day.
To solve all the current and future challenges related to people’s safety, we've built AjnaTX smart glasses. With AjnaTX, multiple times screenings, as well as door-to-door screening, is also possible
