India’s thriving MSMEs are the soul of the Indian economy. India has approximately 6.3 crore MSMEs. The number of registered MSMEs grew 18.5% Y-o-Y to reach 2.5 million units in 2020 from 2.1 million units in 2019. On 30th June 2021, a virtual conference is organized to celebrate the wonderful achievements of MSMEs in India. Captain Dibya Shankar Mishra, Minister (Independent Charge) of MSMEs, Industry, Energy and Home (S), Government of Odisha will be the Chief Guest of the World MSME Day Virtual Conference.
The Indian MSMEs sector contributes about 29% towards the GDP through its national and international trade. However, despite programmes such as ‘Make in India’ targeting manufacturing growth, manufacturing MSMEs in India still face structural issues which prevent the sector flourish. With a view to the bridge, the gap between the current policies and programmes for MSMEs and the real demands of the MSMEs segment, Machine Maker, India’s leading manufacturing portal is organising a virtual webinar on 30th June.
Highlighting the aim and scope of World MSME Day which is celebrated on 27th June, the webinar titled ‘Empowering the MSMEs in India’ is focused on empowering Indian MSMEs. The virtual conference will have five sessions – Opening session, Knowledge Sharing Session, Panel Discussion on Indo German Collaborations, Technical Session on Additive Manufacturing and an Industry Debate on EV Motor Manufacturing in India.
Captain Dibya Shankar Mishra, Minister (Independent Charge) of MSMEs, Industry, Energy and Home (S), Government of Odisha the Chief Guest will inaugurate the virtual conference. The three hours’ will bring MSMEs and stakeholders from the sector in a fitting platform to voice their challenges, issues and opinions.
The inaugural session will cover the welcome note by Hari Shanker, Managing Editor of Machine Maker. The keynote speech will be delivered by Vijay Kalra, Head of Mahindra Institute of Quality & Chairman of Central Safety Council of Mahindra Group followed by felicitations from G Reghu, IAS, Director of Directorate of Technical Education and Training, Government of Odisha, and Rashmi Ranjan Mohapatra, President of Titanium Equipment and Anode Manufacturing Company Limited, Chennai and a TedX Speaker.
The Knowledge Sharing Session will be addressed by Rajesh Nath, Managing Director of German Engineering Federation (VDMA) India. He will speak on “Impact of Germany in World Manufacturing & Business Sentiment in BRIC countries.”
Followed by the second session, a Panel Discussion will be moderated by Priya Rawat, Vice President, Invest India on the subject of “Indo German Collaboration for Indian Manufacturing”. The experts on the panel are PL Muthusekkar, Managing Director of Nord Drivesystems, Indradev Babu, President of Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers’ Association and Managing Director at UCAM, India, Bhavana Bindra, Managing Director of REHAU South Asia, Vijay S Beriwal, President of Indian Institute of Foundrymen and Chairman of Vidyut Group, and Manoj Barve, Indian Head of BVMW (German Federal Association of SMEs).
A technical session on the opportunities of Additive Manufacturing for MSMEs will be led by Rajiv Dhawan of Advanced Mechanical Services Pvt Ltd, in which Nishant Kashyap, Director Marketing & PR of Truventor.AI will be delivering the opening remarks.
The last session, the Industry Debate session will focus on the “Role of MSMEs in EV Motor Manufacturing”.
