This year, held in Farnborough where several Indian manufacturers showcased the products to the global stage. They included several aviation metal component manufacturers displaying products and services highlighting the Make in India for export.
Air India’s A350 Showcase
From the Indian perspective, the two main highlights of the show were Air India’s static showcase of the A350 aircraft and the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited Chalet.

This was the first time Air India showcased its new livery and aircraft, the A350. The A350 with new livery on static display in Farnborough. The redesign is across from the brand to the interiors. The discussion with the onboard Air India team was about the change and progress needed. The airline is reinventing itself in a very competitive and crowded market. The A350 and other series Airbus for Air India are going to boost the Make in India for aviation components, servicing, and maintenance.
Hindustan Aeronautics Limited Chalet

The Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) Chalet showcases the Make in India defence and security equipment. HAL is a nationally and globally recognised company for robust and completive defence equipment manufacturers. On display in the Challet is the HAL Tejas fighter jet. This is the first indigenous that is designed and made in India. The scaled model aircraft was available for viewing to the aviation industry and potential customers.
With the presence of two of the major Indian brands in the aviation industry at Farnborough Airshow, this year showcases the dynamic capabilities in the Indian Manufacturing Sectors, from machining parts and tools to composites. A large medium to large aircraft might have many smaller machined components that will likely be made in India.
