The Italian Tech in India event, organized by the Embassy of Italy in India and The Indo Italian Chamber of Commerce & Industry, opened its doors to visitors on March 3rd, 2023. The event brought together 26 Italian companies to showcase their abilities for Make in India, and the response from the industry has been overwhelmingly positive.

The Italian Tech in India exhibition, organised by the Embassy of Italy in India and the Indo-Italian Chamber of Commerce & Industry, was recently held in New Delhi. The three-day event witnessed the participation of 26 Italian companies, showcasing their technological expertise and capabilities for Make in India. The event aimed to foster greater collaborations between India and Italy, particularly in the field of manufacturing and skill development. The Italian Tech in India exhibition was inaugurated by Antonio Tajani, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Italy, and Piyush Goyal, Commerce Minister of the Government of India.

Participating companies such as Bonfiglioli, Coesia, Maire Tecnimont Group, Piaggio, SDF, and Bettinelli, among others, used the event to display their latest innovations in manufacturing and automation technologies. According to Claudio Maffioletti, CEO and Secretary General of IICCI, the event provided the participating companies with an excellent opportunity to establish contacts with potential Indian partners and expand their businesses in the country.

The event’s success has been attributed to the joint efforts of the Italian and Indian governments in building a strong bilateral relationship. The visit of Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi to India on the day of the event’s inauguration was seen as a significant step in this direction. The event also had the support of the Indian government, with the Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal inaugurating the event along with the Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani.

Italian Manufacturing for India’s Growth

The Italian Tech in India event held recently witnessed insightful seminars and panel discussions on the topic of “Italian Manufacturing for India’s Growth: towards Green Transition and Circular Economy.” The introductory session was graced by Francesco Varriale, Head of the Economic & Innovation Department at the Embassy of Italy in India, Amit Roy, President of IICCI, and Tanay Dalal, CFA, FRM, Economist at AXIS Bank, who highlighted the importance of technological up-gradation and collaboration for the Indian manufacturing sector. Dr Hanif Qureshi, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Heavy Industries, Government of India, and Vinnie Mehta, Director General of ACMA, spoke about the latest developments in India’s automotive and auto-components industry and the opportunities for Indo-Italian partnerships.

The panel discussion that followed was themed around “Celebrating the success of Italian companies in India!” and featured distinguished panellists Luca Matteucci of Marposs, Enel Group, Magnetic FAAC India Pvt Ltd, Maccaferri, Mapei, and Ravi Tallapragada of Marelli. The discussion was moderated by SK, editor-in-chief of Mint, and introduced by Claudio Maffioletti, CEO & Secretary General of IICCI. The panellists shared their experiences and provided insights into their successful ventures in India. It was an interactive session that saw the exchange of ideas and knowledge between the panellists and the attendees.
