The 12th edition of CII EXCON, South Asia’s Largest Construction Equipment Trade Fair, is all set to kick off on December 12, 2023, at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC), Bengaluru. The esteemed inaugural ceremony will be graced by the presence of Nitin Gadkari, Hon’ble Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Government of India. Hosted by the Government of Karnataka, EXCON 2023 is expected to be a pivotal event, with support from the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, the Ministry of Heavy Industries, Government of India, and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). The Indian Construction Equipment Manufacturers’ Association (ICEMA) stands as the sector partner.
In a press conference held in the city, Dimitrov Krishnan, Co-Chairman of CII EXCON 2023, expressed excitement about the event, emphasising the theme, “Building India’s Tomorrow.” He highlighted that EXCON is not merely an exhibition but a driving force behind India’s continuous progress, symbolising robust infrastructure development and solidifying India’s position as a global hub for construction equipment manufacturing. Acknowledged as the Construction Equipment Festival of India, EXCON promises to be a comprehensive showcase of technology, globalisation, sustainability, and inclusiveness.
The Construction Equipment industry has experienced a remarkable resurgence, achieving a notable 26% growth in the fiscal year 2022-23. This exceptional performance catapulted total sales beyond the one lakh milestone, firmly establishing India as the world’s third-largest Construction Equipment (CE) market. Mr. Krishnan further shared insights into the industry’s future, indicating that the Construction Equipment sector is poised for significant growth, targeting over a 15% year-on-year increase in the next five years. This ambitious goal reflects the industry’s commitment to providing cutting-edge machinery and equipment, supporting the sector’s transformation. The focus is on ensuring that construction projects across the nation are not only innovative but also executed with enhanced efficiency, precision, and a strong emphasis on sustainability.
Karnataka: Vibrant Manufacturing Hub to host EXCON 2023
The Government of Karnataka, emerging as a vibrant manufacturing hub, is keen to showcase the state’s manufacturing potential through various initiatives. EXCON, with its large presence of Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and components industries, aligns with this objective. Additionally, as a new initiative this year, EXCON features an exclusive Finance Plaza, with leading financial institutions participating, offering a one-stop-shop for all financing needs of visitors.
In a special initiative, CII introduced the “Women Building India” – Equal Opportunity Awards. These awards aim to recognize companies in the infrastructure sector that have proactively enabled women to participate in the workforce, promoting inclusivity and diversity. Green and Innovative technologies take center stage at EXCON through an exclusive Pavilion on Sustainable Power Solutions. This pavilion showcases cutting-edge technologies, including electric, hybrid, and alternate-fuel-powered machinery, designed to curtail emissions and enhance energy efficiency. Another highlight is the Pavilion on AI, IoT & Automation, focusing on next-gen technology, smart automation, and innovation.
Nitin Gadkari to Inaugurate EXCON 2023

EXCON boasts a lineup of key dignitaries, including Nitin Gadkari, Hon’ble Minister of Road Transport & Highways, Government of India; Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey, Hon’ble Minister for Heavy Industries, Government of India; D K Shivakumar, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka; Sanjeet Singh, Senior Advisor, Niti Aayog; Lieutenant General Raghu Srinivasan, Director General, Border Roads Organisation; Lieutenant General Arvind Walia, Engineer in Chief, Indian Army; Azim Premji, Founder Chairman, Wipro Ltd; Chandrajit Banerjee, Director General, CII; Vivekanand Vanmeeganathan, President, ICEMA, among others.
EXCON is set to encompass an extensive display area of 32,00,000 square feet, featuring over 1000 exhibitors, including 100 from overseas. Participants from 15 countries, including Austria, China, France, Germany, Italy, South Korea, the United States, and others, are set to make this event truly international. The exhibition is expected to attract over 80,000 business visitors from around the world. Supporting partners for EXCON 2023 include the Infrastructure Equipment Skill Council (IESC) and the Builders Association of India (BAI). In addition to the exhibition, CII is organizing a series of conferences spanning five days, covering topics such as Atmanirbhar Bharat in CE Manufacturing, Women in Infrastructure, and CEOs Roundtable.
