The India International EV Show (IIEV) is set to return for its 5th edition from September 6th to 8th, 2024, at the Chennai Trade Centre in Nandambakkam. Recognized as the nation’s top event in the electric vehicle sector, the IIEV Show 2024 will gather over 100 exhibitors and brands from more than five countries, highlighting the latest in electric vehicles, battery technology, and charging solutions.

With an expected turnout of over 12,000 visitors, this year’s show promises to be a significant event, featuring several product launches and showcasing over 5,000 advanced technologies and solutions. The event will also include conferences and seminars focusing on critical issues such as battery advancements and charging infrastructure, essential for the growth of the electric vehicle industry.

Organized by Futurex Group in partnership with the Global Automotive Research Centre, International Federation of Electric Vehicle Association (IFEVA), and Society for Smart E-Mobility (SSEM), the event is supported by various organizations including Facilitating MSMEs of Tamil Nadu (FaMe TN) and the Tamil Nadu EV Task Force. The event is co-organized by National Highways for Electric Vehicles (NHEV) and supported by Ease of Doing Business and Charge Point Operators Society of India (CPOS).

Chennai, often dubbed the ‘Automobile Capital of India’ and ‘Detroit of Asia,’ provides an ideal setting for this event. Tamil Nadu plays a crucial role in India’s automotive industry, contributing 35% of the country’s auto components and hosting major manufacturers like Hyundai Motors, BMW, Daimler, and Ashok Leyland. The city’s strong industrial base makes it a fitting backdrop for the 5th India International EV Show.

India’s electric vehicle market is experiencing rapid growth, with sales surpassing 1.7 million units in the 2024 fiscal year. According to JMK Research & Analytics, EV sales in India are projected to rise by 66% in 2024, with the market share in the passenger car segment expected to double. This growth is fueled by supportive government policies, advancements in battery technology, and increasing consumer interest.

In addition to the exhibition, the event will feature the EV DYNAMICS Conference on September 7th, with presentations and discussions led by ministry officials, industry associations, and EV manufacturers. The conference will include four panel discussions and other investment-focused sessions with 40 speakers.

On September 8th, National Highways for Electric Vehicles (NHEV) will host a conference and press meet focused on upgrading highways into E-Highways. A Tech Trial Run III, an EV rally from Chennai to Trichy (332 KM), is scheduled for September 9th to mark World EV Day. This event will evaluate the technological and commercial insights gained from previous trials involving electric SUVs and buses.

“The India International EV Show 2024 is a crucial step in India’s shift towards sustainable transportation.
