After five successful days of trade fairs, GIFA, METEC, THERMPROCESS, and NEWCAST, collectively known as the Bright World of Metals, have surpassed expectations in Düsseldorf. The event attracted 63,300 visitors from 114 countries, with 58% of them being decision makers in the industry. The trade fairs showcased the power of the metallurgical industry with 2,200 exhibitors from 56 countries, presenting cutting-edge machines, plants, and solutions. Notably, sustainability and Artificial Intelligence emerged as key topics across the twelve exhibition halls.
Amid challenging times for the global economy, the trade fairs witnessed numerous successful business deals, reflecting a dynamic atmosphere and a commitment to investment. Impressively, 78% of visitors revealed plans for concrete investments over the next two years, demonstrating the industry’s resilience and forward-looking approach.
The Bright World of Metals trade fairs highlighted their global appeal, with 76% of exhibitors coming from abroad. Visitors from overseas accounted for 69%, particularly from Asia, emphasizing the international significance of the event. After a four-year hiatus, the in-person networking opportunities were welcomed by attendees, fostering a positive mood throughout the exhibition halls.

Malte Seifert, Director of Messe Düsseldorf, emphasized the international market coverage of GIFA, METEC, THERMPROCESS, and NEWCAST, which cater to the entire metallurgical and foundry technology sectors. Notably, European metallurgy and foundry technology saw high demand from India, the USA, and China. The international attendance, both in terms of exhibitors and visitors, played a crucial role in the trade fairs’ success, making them a must-attend event for professionals worldwide.
The Bright World of Metals trade fairs served as a signpost for industrial transformation. The event provided a platform to address pressing market developments, such as labor shortages and high energy costs, while also exploring opportunities presented by the energy transition. Noteworthy discussions included a top-level talk between industry leaders and Mona Neubaur, Minister of Economy, Industry, Climate Protection, and Energy in North Rhine-Westphalia, on topics like internationally competitive electricity prices for industry.
The trade fairs also focused on sustainability, digitalization, circular economy, and new production technologies. Numerous activities, such as forums, conferences, and the ecoMetals campaign, highlighted the industry’s commitment to a sustainable future. The ecoMetals Forum, organized by VDMA Metallurgy and Messe Düsseldorf, facilitated discussions on green transformation, while the ecoMetal Trails showcased innovative and energy-efficient manufacturing practices.
