Bharat Mobility Global Expo Set to Inaugurate on February 2024

Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution and Textiles, Piyush Goyal, has launched the logo and booklet for the Mega Mobility show, “Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024.” During the curtain raiser program held in New Delhi, on 5th January, 2024, the Minister had emphasized the whole-of-government approach introduced under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi that has propelled India into a new era of innovative thinking and holistic working methods. “Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024,” is scheduled to be held from 1-3 February 2024 at Bharat Mandapam at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, across 1,00,000+ sq. meters area.

The inaugural Bharat Mobility Global Expo marks a pioneering initiative in India, presenting a unique platform that unites the entire mobility value chain under a single roof. More than an event, it serves as a prelude to the future of mobility. The Bharat Mobility Global Expo is set to showcase a spectrum of exhibits and events encompassing the vehicles of the future, cutting-edge automotive components, electric vehicle battery and charging technologies, alternate powertrains, and disruptive technologies such as urban mobility solutions, connected and autonomous vehicles, among others. India stands as one of the largest markets for vehicle manufacturers, ranging from two-wheelers to heavy commercial vehicles. The country consistently ranks among the world’s top four markets, positioning it as an attractive destination for manufacturing. With an increasing contribution to the world’s vehicle exports, India aims to elevate its share from the current 14% to approximately 25% of all passenger vehicles produced in the country by 2030. Additionally, an estimated 30% of two-wheelers produced in India are anticipated to be exported by 2030.

Bharat Mobility Global Expo also intends to make India the epicenter of global mobility capability, India, recognized as one of the leading destination for automotive global capability centers, plays a crucial role in shaping the future of the automotive industry. The country’s contributions span innovative automotive software, next-gen electronics, industrial automation, and more, unlocking an era of software-driven vehicles, autonomous, connected, and digital mobility. The Government of India in collaboration with the automotive industry, is concentrated on mitigating environmental impacts arising from the expanding mobility sector. The vision of sustainability translates into a robust focus on innovation, encompassing new-age materials like composites and green steel, next-generation alternate powertrains, vehicle electrification, vehicle scrappage policies, GHG reduction technologies, and various other sustainable practices. The Bharat Mobility Expo is poised to unveil a myriad of opportunities for the global community and India to collaboratively shape and transform the future of the automotive industry.

Mr Goyal urged the auto industry to exceed a 25% export share and instead aim for at least a 50% export share. Encouraging industry stakeholders to adopt a proactive approach to seize opportunities in the global economy, he emphasized the vast potential for Indian businesses to capture large world markets. He praised the collaborative spirit prevalent across sectors, highlighting its role in driving the best outcomes while fostering healthy competition. Underlining the significance of these mega exhibitions, Mr Goyal also noted their international scale and ambition. The exhibitions aim to present India’s strengths to the global market and position the country as an international player across industries. Emphasizing India’s ambition to substantially increase its share in global exports, the Minister urged the industry to strive for greater excellence and performance on the global stage.

The Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024 will feature specialized exhibitions, including Auto shows (featuring electric & hybrid vehicles), ACMA Automechanika, a large-scale tire exhibition, urban mobility solutions (two-wheelers/e-bikes, drones, etc.), EV Infra Pavilion (including Charging stations and Battery Swapping), Battery Tech Pavilion, and other energy sources like hydrogen. The event will also host 13+ conferences, each dedicated to various aspects of the mobility value chain, with global experts participating. This expo signifies a collaborative effort to shape the future of mobility through innovation and international cooperation. It marks an important moment in the mobility sector, showcasing India’s contributions towards engineering excellence and sustainable solutions.

Over 27 leading vehicle manufacturers are set to launch new models and electric vehicles, demonstrating the automotive industry’s robust vision to innovation. Both international and domestic legacy automotive players will showcase their electric, hybrid, CNG, and biofuel-powered vehicles. The event will also feature over 400 auto component manufacturers, 1000+ brands from 13+ global markets, displaying their entire range of products, technologies, and services. Country pavilions from Japan, Germany, Korea, Taiwan, and Thailand, along with additional international participation from the USA, Spain, UAE, Russia, Italy, Turkey, Singapore, and Belgium, will add a global perspective to the expo. ACMA’s flagship aftermarket expo, the ACMA Automechanika New Delhi, will now be featured as part of the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024.

The event will witness participation from major international and Indian battery manufacturers and battery supply chain & recycling companies. Over 10 leading companies will showcase EV infrastructure services, including charging stations and battery swapping solutions. The CEO Conclave will be a highlight, bringing visionary leaders together to deliberate on the future trajectory of the mobility industry. NASSCOM will host the NASSCOM Auto Techade Pavilion, showcasing India as a powerhouse for automotive software capabilities, advanced technology capabilities, and an innovation ecosystem.

The Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024 is an industry-led and government-supported initiative, coordinated by Engineering Export Promotion Council India (EEPC India) with joint support from various stakeholder industry bodies. The curtain-raiser event was attended by officials from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, supporting ministries, and industry associations, along with automotive sector industry leaders, representatives of foreign embassies and missions, knowledge partners, stakeholders, and press and media.
