The second edition of Automation for Smart Manufacturing organised by the Automation Industry Association with the support of Samarth Udyog, Government of India started successfully today at Hosur. The Hosur Industrial Association is hosting the one-day technical conference featuring industry experts who discussed the importance of automation and the implementation of the latest technologies in the manufacturing sector.
After Pune, Automation Industry Association chose Hosur, a strategic manufacturing, where many SMEs are having their facilities, as their second city for promoting digital manufacturing. The event was held in Hosur, a strategic location in Tamil Nadu with strong industries, and near Bangalore, which is known as a hub of the machine tools sector in the country. In the inaugural session address Sunil Mehta, President of the Automation Industry Association emphasized the significance of automation for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and the relevance of hosting the event in Hosur.
Meanwhile, Sundariya S, Chairman of Hosur Industries Skill Development Centre, talked about the importance of encouraging more women to join the manufacturing sector and participate in automation initiatives. Sundariya who is also the Unit Head of Wendt India was mentioning looking at the women’s participation at the conference, 3 comparing with a strong delegation present of 120+ men during the event. He spoke about the importance of implementing IoT & Automation in manufacturing, which is the only option today to increase profitability. He also urged the delegates to visit the Skill Development Centre of Hosur Industries Association, which was built in collaboration with many industries.
The inaugural edition was concluded with an address by Anup Wadhwa, Director of the Automation Industry Association, introducing the conference theme to the delegates, followed by the second session of the day started. The first half of the conference featured technical sessions from several industry experts, including Prasad Kulkarni of Mitsubishi Electric India, M Venkatesan of TITAN Automation, Raghudeep Madineni of Ather Energy, and Himanshu Jadhav of Jendamark India, who spoke on various topics related to smart manufacturing.
The first half of the event ended with a Panel Discussion and Q & A Panel Chaired by G Sundararaman, Co-CEO, Wipro PARI Pvt Ltd. The energy and enthusiasm at the event were palpable, with attendees feeling empowered with new learnings on digital transformation for the manufacturing industry. The second half of the day was just as invigorating as the first, with attendees remaining engaged and eager to learn more. The success of the event has paved the way for future editions, with plans to take Automation for Smart Manufacturing to other cities in the near future.
In the second half of the day, Uma Balakrishnan, Chairperson & Managing Director of Axcend Automation & Software Solutions, delivered a talk on optimizing manufacturing quality in the digital age. Suman Ghosh, DGM- Production Engineering of TVS Motors, addressed the challenges of implementing automated manufacturing systems, and Prof. Sunil Jha of IIT Delhi discussed cyber-physical integration. To day proceedings will end with a Panel Discussion and Q&A chaired by Prashant Rao, Head of Application Engg of Mathworks India.
