Nitin Gadkari Launches MSME Ideas Portal, to Rev-up Startup Eco System

MSME Ministry launches its dedicated portal ‘MSME Bank of Scheme, Ideas, Innovation, and Research’

MSME schemes run by both the central government as well as state governments will be listed on the portal

MSME portal is a one-stop platform for innovative startup ideas to get an evaluation, support, guidance

Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprise (MSME) today launched its dedicated portal ‘MSME Bank of Scheme, Ideas, Innovation, and Research’. Shri Nitin Gadkari, Minister of MSME, officially inaugurated the portal through a video conference. The MSME portal is a one-stop platform for innovative startup ideas to get an evaluation, support, guidance, and the right linkages to see fruition. 

Individuals and startups with their innovative business ideas can easily signup on the portal and register their ideas in defined categories and sectors. The startup ideas will be available through a crowd rating process where people can evaluate the ideas and rate them on the basis of 8 parameters following which the ideas will rank and listed on the portal according to ratings.

All the MSME schemes run by both the central government as well as state governments will be listed on the portal.  This will help individuals and startups to easily get knowledge about all the schemes related to MSMEs which they can approach and avail.  

Besides, the portal will also provide venture capitalists an opportunity to directly get in touch with the individuals and startups and investment in their potential business ideas. 

Mentioning about the Government’s dream of a 5 trillion economy and 100 lakh crore infrastructures, Gadkari added, “MSME has big role to play in making the dream true. MSMEs need to focus on cost efficiency with quality enhancement and this is possible through innovation, research, and technology.”

The platform will also include Central Tools Rooms and Incubation centers across the country to give shape to potential start ideas. The Ministry announced measures to rev up an ecosystem for the MSMEs. Following the portal, the ministry will come up with MSME Gateway through which Indian MSMEs will be able to source foreign direct investment which mostly the big companies in the organized sectors have enjoyed so far.

Besides, MSMEs which contributes almost 48% of GDP often are found lacking in export due to procedural norms and facilitating policies. Now an export promotion will ecosystem ill be developed with a unique digital platform where Indian MSMEs can directly do business with MSMEs from other countries and increase export. 

The Ministry has also plan to promote the startup ecosystem in the country by engaging states in a ranking based competition where states will be evaluated on four parameters such as employment generation, enterprise development, export promotion and provide, ease of doing business to MSMEs.
