Indian Army joining hands with government policies on green energy has incorporated the electric cars e-Verito from Mahindra in the convoy for its officials in Delhi. This preliminary fleet of e-vehicles has been set-up in association with Energy Efficiency Services Limited, (EESL). EESL is a joint venture of four national Public-Sector Undertakings – NTPC Limited, Power Finance Corporation Limited, Rural Electrification Corporation Limited and POWERGRID Corporation of India Limited under Ministry of Power.

Indian Army in the official statement said,” The Army plans to operate first fleet of 10 e-cars in first stage and further will increase the numbers in National Capital to ensure economy, efficiency and minimal emissions. The introduction of e-vehicles in the Army in Delhi was envisioned on The World Environment Day and first batch of e-vehicles was launched by QMG, Lt Gen Gopal R.”

The decision and initiatives are in line with the Indian Government’s vision of adoption of EVs in the country. Indian car manufacturers like Tata Motors and Mahindra have taken the initiative as well in R&D and manufacturing of EVs and EESL in the role of promoting these vehicles to various Government agencies. Indian Army’s participation will further encourage the EVs manufacturer to push their technology further to produce more efficient and rigid vehicles in the future.
