ZECHA has traversed the rough terrain of Indian business

From 2019, the Dagger Master would be known as Zecha Precision Tools India. Dagger Master entered into a partnership with Zecha Hartmetall Werkezeugfabrikation GmbH, a leading German manufacturer of High Precision Solid Carbide Micro Cutting Tools with an excellent reputation for quality and innovation in Europe from 2006. Together, the two companies leverage their synergies in the technology and art of grinding carbide, using the world’s best CNC Grinding Machines and Carbides, to deliver a comprehensive range of Precision Micro Drilling & Cutting Tools for discerning customers who are looking for ex-stock and special solutions for their drilling and micromachining applications.

Vidhu Nevatia, the Managing Director of Zecha Precision Tools India and Stefan Zecha, Managing Director and Managing Partner of Zecha Hartmetall-Werkzeugfabrikation GmbH in an exclusive interview with Machine Maker talks about the Zecha Precision Tools in India.

New name, greater brand value

Asking him about the after-effects of the name change, Vidhu Nevatia says “Zecha & Dagger Master have been a joint venture since 2006. Zecha has created a very strong product offering and brand reputation in Europe over the last decade resulting in a greater demand for their products. The company intends to change its name to take advantage of the brand value of the company Zecha to help penetrate the Indian and South East Asian markets. In this way, a single brand is promoted worldwide and will prevent confusion in the market among dealers and customers.”

Zecha to create a difference in the Indian market

“The high-end Indian tool consumer is looking for productivity solutions, quality improvements and reduction in cost per component which are all the strengths of Zecha products and applications support. Having proved these benefits comprehensively in the demanding Swiss watch and medical component markets and the German precision die mould and engineering markets over the last years, we will provide these solutions to Indian industry as more advanced components are manufactured locally.”

Zecha at recent Imtex 2019

When asked about the innovations showcased at recently held IMTEX 2019, Mr. Nevatia talks about the four primary recent innovations which drawn huge visitor appreciation, includes PEACOCK End Mill Range for Hard Steels up to 67HRC, IGUANA Laser Machined Diamond Cutters for non-ferrous, composites and difficult materials. SEAGULL Maximum Precision Diamond Coated End Mills for Graphite Electrodes and AUTODRILL Internal Coolant Twist Drills & Pilot Drills from Ø1.0 mm and bigger for deep holes up to 30xD.

He further adds, “All these products provide Indian industry with new tool technologies to achieve better machinability and productivity across materials.”  According to Mr. Vidhu, Zecha has already traversed the rough terrain of Indian business for over a decade as their joint venture partner and they are together gearing up to cater state of the art products and services to the Indian & SE Asian markets by bringing production of current technology tools to India.” In fact, two of the innovation lines being presented at IMTEX are made in India alone and exported worldwide.”- He adds.

The Inquiry about competition and markets led us to an answer, “The major markets for Zecha are European primarily but as India starts to allocate capex to current generation machining solutions, the demand for high accuracy and high-performance tools will grow. We plan to be present with local production and stock with application engineering support to provide customers with a delightful experience.”

Promoting European brands in India

“We represent some European brands in INDIA. Like Schaublin SA, Switzerland for tool holding and work holding, Applitec SA, Switzerland for indexable Inserts for Swiss Automats, Hommel Keller, Germany for Knurling and Marking solution. Hardinge Workholiding, the USA for work holding solution.”

Manufacturing expansion

Germany, Switzerland, S. Korea, Singapore & China are major markets for us apart from several other SE Asian countries. Manufacturing expansion has been ongoing for the last 3 financial years in which substantial expansions have been completed and this trend should continue for the next 2-3 years at least. Visibility beyond this window is not so clear today but based on our overall market share in India and SE Asia being very small, we feel it will be possible to keep growing significantly for more years.

ZECHA was founded in 1964, by Mr. Erwin Zecha, at his own house with the production of special carbide tools for the cutting and punching applications and today the company has grown in its propositions and products range to become a market leader with an extensive range of cutting tools, blank and forming tools as well as high precision laser machining centre. ZECHA products and solutions lead in precision and quality which are key for the international employment in different industries, such as, for example, in medical and dental technology, the chronograph industry, automotive industry, or in tool and mould making.
