  • Prasanna Natta of TEAM showed equally great skills in handling both PPC and Designing Metal Equipment
  • She broke the stereotyped, male-dominated functions, by working on the shop floor for fabrication
  • She has also completed more than hundreds of challenging designs and projects as per the requirement of the production team

There is no doubt that women like designs, but Ms. Prasanna Natta got interested in designing equipment of different materials. She chose to pursue her career in Engineering, fulfilled her aspiration, and landed in designing exotic materials equipment.

Working in the challenging role in the Production Planning Control (PPC) at Titanium Equipment And Anode Manufacturing Company Pvt. Ltd. (TEAM), Prasanna needs to coordinate with many stakeholders. Fabrication is primarily a male-dominated industry and women working in PPC require a strong determination and interpersonal relationship to get the job done. Prasanna managed to achieve it all with elan.

How It All Started

Prasanna Natta

Hailing from a farming family at Vemulapalli, a small village in West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh, Prasanna secured the 1st rank in SSC at her school and got into 6 years integrated course combining 12th standard and B.Tech in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies, Nuzvid. She went to do her M.Tech (Material Science and Engineering) from one of the premier institutes in India, the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli.

On completing her M.Tech, Prasanna got selected as a Management Trainee at Titanium Equipment and Anode Manufacturing Company Private Limited, known as TEAM, a leader in Exotic Material Fabrication. TEAM has catalyzed some of the major innovations in the Indian industrial and engineering segment – solving some of the most complex engineering challenges for a diverse range of industries in India and around the globe. TEAM brings together a powerful team of innovators driven to provide sophisticated and customer-driven solutions in the manufacturing of exotic metals that include Titanium, Tantalum, Zirconium, Nickel, Nickel Alloy, Copper & Copper Alloy, and Special Grade Stainless – made specifically for all industrial applications.

Prasanna’s Tryst with Designing

Her contribution to TEAM is immense, she worked with PPC during her initial days of training, learned and contributed to the Production – Fabrication where she broke the stereotyped, male-dominated functions, worked with the shop floor, took tough challenges to meet the requirements of production by coordinating with Project Management and Supply Chain and core production team.

She was thrilled when she got an opportunity to work in the Design department as well which is very close to her heart. As she has immense knowledge in Materials Science, she was very confident that she could contribute and deliver the expectations of stakeholders.

Prasanna was the only woman employee in the PPC and design department as well and she spent 6 months in each division. She quickly picked the nuances of Designs. At TEAM, completing the design by working with the estimation and proposal team, meeting the expectations of the customer is critical. On the other hand, the Design departments’ timely submission is always increasing the chance of winning orders from the customers by beating the competition. Prasanna made her mark in both divisions.

Aiming Big for Achieving Big

Never in the belief of gender-specific role, has Prasanna been at ease working with men colleagues as much as she has been with female employees of the organization. This ability to get over organizational prejudices helped her work on many bigger projects and she managed to deliver the designs timely.

At TEAM, every project is unique, and the design team should understand the requirements of the customers, closely working with the proposal team to meet the customer’s requirements. Prasanna has completed more than hundreds of designs and submitted them to proposals and the production team.

While Prasanna has shown her acumen in PPC equally, she admittedly enjoys working in design more as she feels she can contribute and utilize her functional competency of Materials Science. With a keen focus on bringing her best in her work, Prasanna always geared up for working on complex projects and making challenging designs.
