Power conversion finds its application in almost every electrical process. Powertron India Private Limited is a company that has been developing Power conversion solutions with a wide experience of nearly 15 years. A manufacturer and exporter of highly reliable DC Power Supply, Battering Charger, and Power Pack solutions Powertron India is also geared up to play a key role in the emerging Electric Vehicle and Solar Renewable Energy sector.

Vivek Panchal, Managing Director of Powertron India Private Limited speaks to Machine Maker about his company and its target areas. “We are experiencing a growth rate of about 80-90% year-on-year (YoY) catering to the emerging sectors,” comments Vivek. Their manufacturing expertise extends to machines working on 1 kW to 100kW. Vivek expresses confidence in his team that they can make any type of electrical machine in the aforementioned range. “We specialize in SMPS, battery charging technology, and DC power converters,” says Vivek.

Research on Developing Make In India EV Charging Infrastructure

They have a wide variety of different products to suit the market requirements. Currently, they are working on the EV charging technology and seek to develop it to make it completely Made-in-India. “We are doing extensive research and our Research and Development Teams are currently working on it,” Vivek adds. Currently, all EV chargers are imported from either China or some other country. The recent developments have encouraged Powertron to follow its target of Made-in-India production. They believe that they start manufacturing their products within the next six months.

Powertron is based in India but the company has much presence in the international market. They had participated in the Middle East Energy Expo in March 2020 in the UAE. Besides UAE, they are also present in Russia, Dubai, and the United States. They mainly focus on DC power convertors along with battery chargers for various machines. Powertron will organize an Automation Expo in September next year where they plan to launch 3-4 new products. “One of them allows remote monitoring of power supply which anyone can access even with their mobile phones,” Vivek mentioned. The rest of the products are in development and more information will be revealed at a later date.

According to Vivek, the main challenge is producing electrical components in India where the required infrastructure is not present. Most of the electronic components need to be imported from a country such as China, which has a huge production line to manufacture electrical components. “The main challenge is to develop these components without a significant increase in their price,” explains Vivek.

Powertron UV Disinfectant Machine: COVID19 Innovations

Powertron did not shut down during COVID19 induced lockdown, unlike most other companies. There were two primary reasons behind this- Firstly, almost all of their employees lived near their manufacturing plant and didn’t have to travel and hence the lockdown didn’t affect them much. Secondly, their products were used in hospitals and the healthcare industry. Thus they became an 'essential service provider' during the lockdown and were allowed to continue their manufacturing activities, of course maintaining standard health protocols.

“We developed Powertron UV machines which can be used as a disinfecting machine”, says Mr. Vivek when asked about innovations during the lockdown. The machine developed by Powertron utilizes strong UV radiation which can kill any type of germs present on the surface of any object. It can be used on multiple objects like laptops, mobiles, and even groceries. They also supplied to the Airports Authority of India and the Indian Railways, and to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) one of their biggest clients.

Powertron is one of the biggest names in the electronic industry with wide experience in various international as well as domestic markets. They use state of the art SMPS technology with high power density for our over 300 products ranging from Switch Mode Power Supply, Battery Chargers, DC Power Supply, UV Disinfection/Sanitizer, DC to DC Converter, Electric Vehicle Battery Charger, Electroplating Rectifier, Multi-Output Power Supply and many more.
