If COVID-19 has threatened life, the lockdown has brought life to a standstill, albeit for good reason for protecting it. But life must go on, so must the needs that keep life moving, be fulfilled.
During the lockdown, the government has allowed the essential sector to ensure the basic and essential commodities and services to reach every household of the country. Food, dairy, pharma, certainly, top the list of commodities earmarked as essential and the respective industries are making all the effort to continue production.
But, the efforts made by food and dairy industries see fruition also because of some ancillary sectors such as process machinery and packaging which relentlessly helping services and products to essential sectors in this crisis.
A company that is a shining name in the segment proving the essential sector is Fillpack Technology which has been steady support to the food, dairy, pharma sectors providing them with all types of processing and packaging machinery. It also manufactures other machines such as those for filling bottles, washing bottles, flow wraps, and so on.
An ISO 9001:2016-certified company, the company has been active for 30 years. Its product range includes processing machinery and packaging machinery, including paneer-cutting machines, pouch-packing machines, flavored milk-packing machines, and so on. In other words, the company provides various machinery for packaging
Fillpack Technology is known for its high standards of packing and processing. It ensures that the food that reaches us is clean, convenient and hygienic; the medicines that we take are packed in sterile conditions, keeping cleanliness in mind. For a company to ensure hygiene for essential items, hygienic measures for its own factory and personnel should b a benchmark. The company has recently launched a new product – Hygiene Station which has been installed at the Fillpack facility for its personnel. Besides, the product has already been installed at the Nestle facility.
It is ready to solve any production challenges by providing tailored machine solutions. As the coronavirus pandemic continues to wreak havoc worldwide, the lockdown that has been effected in India to combat it has grappled the economy. Many companies have been hit, and Fillpack Technology is no exception.
Machine Maker spoke to Nitin Kere, who is the Managing Director of Fillpack Technology to get an overview of the crisis for the sector and how they are still playing their part.
Online Service Support
The company is currently giving online support to its customers. Thanks to software and online platforms, and the company’s own relentless engineers, the online support platform is running smoothly. Some departments are calling customers on a regular basis to provide support.
The lockdown has led to a complete shutdown and production has come to a standstill. Major deliveries to Dubai and Canada – two of the company offshore export regions – have been delayed. But Fillpack is making all efforts to keep its suppliers on and is hopeful that things will improve soon.
The milk industry is already in bad shape, because milk delivery rate is low. Moreover, after Corona, the health department has advised against the consumption of cold milk products. This is unfortunate, as the dairy industry practically survives on fermented products. However, fermented products are not being manufactured now
Time to Recovery
Kere replies, “My company is service-oriented, so I think, in the next few months, we will see a drop in orders. We will concentrate on after-sale services. We will be focusing on which machines we have already provided to our customers.”
The company chalked out a strategy to keep sustenance as its focus in 2020 in line with other manufacturing companies. “Currently, we are not thinking about how we will cover our losses and make a profit at the moment. All Indians are suffering from Corona. After the nation recovers, we will think about that.”
“Our primary aim is to continue our support and solutions to our customers in the essential sectors”, he added.
