Global consulting and technology firm ZS has announced plans to grow its worldwide team by 4,000 professionals, with India expected to lead this expansion. The move follows increasing demand for Global Capability Centers (GCCs), which have become central to digital innovation and operational growth strategies across industries.

With a current global workforce of approximately 13,000, ZS employs more than 10,000 team members in India across offices in Bengaluru, Pune, Chennai, Hyderabad, Gurgaon, and Noida. India has become a strategic pillar in ZS’s global operations, serving as the core for analytics, technology, and product development support to clients in the United States, Europe, and other regions.

“India is not just a large talent base for us—it’s at the heart of our operations. Six of our 38 offices are located in India and play a critical role in delivering global impact,” said Mohit Sood, Regional Managing Principal at ZS.

While GCCs in India were once seen primarily as cost-saving engines, their role has significantly broadened. Today, these centers are seen as key contributors to innovation and strategic business value, especially in areas like data science, artificial intelligence, and digital platforms. The teams now include senior leaders managing global responsibilities, reflecting the maturity and strategic relevance of India-based centers.

According to Mr Sood, GCCs continue to contribute meaningfully to job creation and economic growth in India. “The evolution of these centers is impressive—what started as back-end support has become core to enterprise transformation,” he noted.

ZS works across various sectors with particular strength in healthcare. The company supports pharmaceutical firms in building and managing their capability centers, often offering an integrated “GCC-as-a-Service” model.

A notable example is its partnership with Roche, where ZS operates a dedicated center in Chennai focused on analytics services for the pharma giant. Beyond dedicated centers, ZS also enables companies to launch and scale new service functions by providing specialized teams with deep domain knowledge, ensuring efficient alignment with enterprise goals.

ZS’s workforce expansion comes at a time when India is solidifying its role as a global hub for digital services and innovation. As organizations seek to accelerate transformation, GCCs are emerging as key drivers of co-creation, product development, and advanced analytics. With a strong presence and deep talent pool, ZS is well-positioned to contribute to this growing landscape and play a central role in shaping the next phase of India’s digital economy.
