At the Mobility Move conference and exhibition in Berlin, taking place from April 1-3, ZF will showcase its latest technologies aimed at advancing decarbonization and improving the efficiency of public transportation. ZF will also participate in the event’s lecture program at booth 66. One of the highlights will be the debut of the CeTrax 2 electric central drive, making its first appearance in Germany. The new drive offers significant upgrades over its predecessor, incorporating advanced components such as an electric motor, SiC inverter, and a 3-speed gearbox, resulting in better performance and reduced energy consumption.
The CeTrax 2 features a continuous output of 210 kW and peak torque of 8,700 Nm, making it ideal for buses with a gross weight of up to 19 tons. Despite the increase in power, the drive maintains a compact installation size, similar to the previous model, and remains compatible with ZF axles. The software also benefits from ZF’s expertise, particularly in areas like cybersecurity.
ZF is also providing engineering and consulting services to help manufacturers transition to highly automated driving systems. With tailored solutions, operators can accelerate the adoption of safe, highly automated vehicles. This was demonstrated in the RABus project, conducted in Mannheim and Friedrichshafen and funded by the state of Baden-Württemberg. ZF Mobility Solutions supported the project by helping select and assess routes, defining the hardware and software requirements, and offering expertise in highly automated driving functions as well as Level 4 vehicle platform approval processes.
