ZETWERK, a prominent player in the contract manufacturing arena, has achieved a notable milestone in the electric vehicle (EV) sector with its 60kW and 120kW DC fast chargers now receiving approval from the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI). This important certification reflects ZETWERK’s dedication to advancing EV infrastructure in India, in line with the government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative.
The ARAI, a leading research institution affiliated with the Ministry of Heavy Industries of the Government of India, granted this certification after thorough testing of the company’s DC fast chargers. These chargers have been meticulously engineered to adhere to stringent safety standards, environmental regulations, and performance metrics, ensuring that they provide dependable and efficient charging solutions across the country.
ZETWERK has already begun securing contracts to supply these approved chargers to major entities such as Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) and other private charge point operators. This development is poised to significantly enhance the availability of fast-charging stations throughout India.
Srinath Ramakkrushnan, Co-founder and COO of ZETWERK, commented, “Achieving ARAI certification is a major accomplishment for us and reinforces our commitment to delivering high-quality, safe, and reliable products. This certification aligns with the ‘Make in India’ initiative and underscores our role in advancing electric vehicle adoption through domestically manufactured chargers.”
Looking ahead, the company plans to introduce several new products within the current financial year and is actively involved in research and development to broaden its product range. This includes developing next-generation Super DC Chargers with capacities of 240kW and 360kW, which are intended to provide even faster charging solutions for both commercial and public EV charging stations.
Abhay Adya, Business Head of the Energy Transition Business at ZETWERK, remarked, “The ARAI certification represents a pivotal moment in our mission to bolster the EV charging infrastructure in India. Our DC fast chargers are designed to offer rapid and reliable charging solutions that will have a significant impact on the EV ecosystem. By collaborating with partners like IOCL, we are committed to constructing a sustainable EV infrastructure that supports the advancement of electric mobility in India.”
Earlier this year, the company announced its collaboration with IOCL, highlighting its dedication to India’s shift towards cleaner energy. The partnership will see the company deploying over 1,400 EV fast chargers across the country, with power ranges between 50kW and 120kW, incorporating advanced DC Dual Gun CCS2 DC Charger technology.
As India progresses towards greater electrification, ensuring a robust and reliable charging infrastructure remains a critical focus. ZETWERK’s certified DC fast chargers are set to enhance the nation’s EV ecosystem, supporting the charging needs of both private and commercial vehicles. With ongoing research, development, and strategic collaborations, the company is well-positioned to play a pivotal role in the transformation of India’s EV infrastructure.
