World Green Energy (WGE) has finalized a land sublease agreement with Tata Steel Special Economic Zone Ltd (TSSEZL) for 50 acres within Gopalpur Industrial Park, Odisha. The deal, signed by TSSEZL Managing Director Manikanta Naik and WGE Managing Director Srinibash Sahoo, will pave the way for a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility housing a 2 GW TOPCon solar cell plant and a 1.2 GW TOPCon solar module plant.
Srinibash Sahoo stated that the project will serve as a cornerstone for India’s solar manufacturing ambitions, catering to both domestic and export markets while creating significant employment and skilling opportunities. He emphasized the alignment of the initiative with the Prime Minister’s vision for a self-reliant and carbon-neutral India by 2047 and thanked the Chief Minister of Odisha for his support in enabling this development.
Manikanta Naik highlighted that WGE’s investment underscores the strategic advantages of Gopalpur Industrial Park and reinforces Tata Steel SEZ’s mission to build a sustainable, future-ready industrial hub. The facility will leverage cutting-edge technology to produce high-efficiency solar cells and modules, strengthen India’s solar value chain, and solidify Odisha’s role in the nation’s clean energy transition.
