World Environment Day 2024: Green Activities are Spearheaded by SIAM’s SAFE Initiative

The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), through its initiative, the Society for Automotive Fitness & Environment (SAFE), spearheaded environmentally friendly activities across India to celebrate World Environment Day 2024. This year’s theme, “Land Restoration, Desertification, and Drought Resilience,” resonated with SIAM’s commitment to sustainability.

SIAM organized nationwide campaigns to raise awareness about sustainable practices in the auto industry. In collaboration with dealerships and service stations, SIAM offered free PUC checkups and certificates to promote cleaner vehicles. They also distributed free saplings to customers, emphasizing the importance of environmental conservation.

“World Environment Day is a chance to renew our commitment to protecting the environment,” said Mr. Prashant K Banerjee, Executive Director, SIAM. “Our SAFE initiative promotes sustainability in the auto sector. This year’s activities, including free PUC checkups and sapling giveaways, demonstrate our dedication to eco-friendly practices and environmental awareness.”

Furthering its commitment to sustainable mobility, SIAM hosted an international conference in New Delhi titled “Integrating Mission LiFE in Automobile Industry: Transitioning Towards Viksit Bharat” alongside World Environment Day celebrations. The conference brought together government officials, industry leaders, and international experts to share knowledge and pave the way for a sustainable future in mobility.

By leading these initiatives, SIAM strengthens its position as a leader in sustainable mobility solutions. The conference discussions focused on integrating environmental practices into the auto industry, and the insights gained are expected to drive positive change for a greener future.
