Withstand environmental influences: B&R ‘s new ACOPOS P3 Servo Drive

B&R’s new servo drive generation ACOPOS P3 gives high performance with a compact design. It is specially designed to meet aggressive atmospheric environments and at temperatures as low as -25°C. The electronics of the ACOPOS P3 are protected from external influences by a special coating as standard, making the servo drive even more resistant.

Part of ABB Business Group, B&R Industrial Automation GmbH is one of the leading multi-national Austrian automation and process control technology company founded in 1979 by Erwin Bernecker and Josef Rainer. B&R ‘s new ACOPOS P3 Servo Drive comes under their safety technology setting new standards in motion control. The servo drive can now easily be used under extreme conditions like those faced by wind turbines. Applications in cold rooms or in very dusty environments such as the textile industry are also possible. Additional expensive special hardware is no longer required, which reduces costs.

This 3-axis servo drive has a power density of 4 Amps per litre which makes it one of the most efficient servo drives on the market with integrated safety functions. It also offers previously unrivalled dynamics and precision, with a minimum sampling time for the entire controller cascade of 50 µs.

B&R conducts extensive environmental testing to ensure the reliable performance of its hardware. The tests are carried out in a fully accredited in-house testing laboratory and in certified external testing facilities in accordance with international standards and regulations. With the small footprints, this product has a big impact. ACOPOS P3 is completely compatible with all the ACOPOS products, which will be very helpful for the customers.
