Visitors from around the world gathered at Bauma 2025 to explore a wide range of cutting-edge machines and technologies at the joint stand of Wirtgen Group and John Deere. The lineup featured around 100 exhibits, including 45 international premières and numerous new developments across road construction, earthmoving, and materials processing.

The live demonstrations were a major highlight, drawing large audiences to a stage where specialists from both companies delivered expert-led presentations. Using massive LED displays, they offered detailed insights into next-generation construction methods, spanning everything from individual machines to entire digital and automated workflows designed to maximize process efficiency and reliability.

At the heart of the Technology Zone was the John Deere Operations Center™ Construction – a centralized platform designed to simplify and optimize construction site management through real-time data and digital integration.

Also on display for the first time: the latest Wirtgen Group Performance Tracker (WPT) modules. These included WPT Paving, Compacting, Recycling, and Crushing – additions to the established WPT Milling system. These tools provide full transparency on site operations, including surface area metrics and volume of materials handled. By capturing this data automatically, the systems help contractors meet reporting requirements more easily, with less manual tracking and reduced operational stress.

Surrounding the tech hub were comprehensive Production Systems – the central theme of the booth. These systems bring together machines, digital tools, and processes that work in sync to deliver efficient, end-to-end solutions for construction projects. Wirtgen Group demonstrated eight specific use cases, including a system for warm asphalt production that showcased resource savings and efficient material handling.

For the first time, Wirtgen Group also revealed a fully integrated road rehabilitation system powered by its Smart Automation Technologies. Through live data access and partial automation, the system enables higher-precision road restoration at lower costs.

Other systems that drew significant attention included smart-linked crushing chains for materials processing, sustainable cold recycling methods, and soil stabilization technologies for heavy earthworks.

As expected, the machines were a major attraction. Operators and decision-makers crowded around the exhibits from Wirtgen, Vögele, Hamm, Kleemann, Benninghoven/Ciber, and John Deere. The chance to get a close look at nearly 100 machines – including 45 making their first public appearance – generated strong interest, particularly among operators eager to work with these new models in the field.

“The feedback from our customers – especially regarding our smart automation systems – has been outstanding,” said Dr Volker Knickel, CEO of Wirtgen Group. “Their trust and the resulting business successes confirm we’re on the right track. Bauma gave us the perfect platform to present fully integrated solutions that help our clients build smarter, safer, and more sustainably.”
