Wipro Infrastructure Engineering (WIN) has unveiled a new business division aimed at producing high-performance base materials for Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs). As part of this initiative, Wipro Electronic Materials will establish a state-of-the-art Copper Clad Laminate (CCL) manufacturing plant in Karnataka, with an investment of approximately Rs 500 crore. The facility is expected to create around 350 new jobs.
The plant will manufacture over 6 million sheets of copper-clad laminates annually, along with pre-impregnated materials. This move is set to enhance India’s domestic production capabilities and reduce reliance on imports for critical PCB materials.
Pratik Kumar, CEO of Wipro Infrastructure Engineering (WIN) and Managing Director of Wipro Enterprises, said “Wipro Electronic Materials represents a groundbreaking investment in India’s electronics manufacturing sector. With valuable support from the Government of Karnataka and MeitY, we aim to provide Indian manufacturers with consistent access to high-quality locally produced materials. This will not only strengthen our supply chains but also improve India’s position in the global market.”
Currently, India imports 100% of copper-clad laminates, and this new facility will cater to rapidly expanding industries such as telecommunications, automotive electronics, consumer electronics, industrial systems, and AI infrastructure.
