A subsidiary of the German company WIKA Alexander Wiegand SE & Co. KG, WIKA India is committed to a greener future. These efforts have helped this company build a solid reputation for protecting the environment. Gaurav Bawa, Senior Vice President, WIKA India, said, “WIKA India believes that all business entities have a social duty for environmental transformation. We intend to lead the way with new sustainability initiatives each year, embracing diversity, innovation, and perseverance.”
Among the primary objectives are pulp packing, zero waste water practices, LPG generator installation, and urban forest development. Switching to pulp packaging, a more environmentally friendly material has reduced plastic waste and increased recycling. This adjustment has saved the company approximately 7000 € each year. Advanced water management systems have also had a substantial impact, lowering water consumption by 26% at the Faridabad factory in the last two years. Additionally, a sewage treatment plant at the Pune complex produces 300,000 liters of reclaimed water for gardening and plants.
Replacing diesel generators with LPG gensets has furthered WIKA India’s sustainable energy use, cutting down greenhouse gas emissions and promoting cleaner air. In a pioneering effort, the company has planted around 1,600 trees using the Miyawaki technique on barren urban land. This method creates rich, biodiverse environments that improve air quality and support urban biodiversity.
WIKA India’s ongoing commitment to sustainability demonstrates the company’s proactive approach to environmental responsibility and its vision for a greener tomorrow.
