The VT850 features advanced design for accuracy and productivity, with capabilities like handling large diameters, high-power cutting, and industry 4.0 compatibility. This launch, enhancing WIDMA’s product portfolio, reflects their commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction, further solidifying their global presence with over 4000 installations.
WIDMA® Machining Solutions Group of Kennametal India Limited, a distinguished manufacturer in the metal-cutting CNC machines arena, has unveiled the VT850. This new 2-axis, standard ‘plug-and-play’ vertical turning lathe is a breakthrough in machining a wide range of large components that require heavy metal removal, promising unmatched accuracy and best-in-class productivity.
“This launch will not only enhance our standard products portfolio, but impact turnaround time to customers and ensure consistent performance,” remarked Rajashekar Venkat, Director – APAC, Machining Solutions Group. The VT850 is manufactured in WIDMA‘s advanced facility in Bangalore, which is equipped with end-to-end capabilities encompassing everything from product conceptualization to design, assembly, and customer support. The VT850 is specially tailored for machining components of massive size and complex geometries like pumps and valves, automobile components, motor bodies, bearings, and graphite blocks. Its design allows users to perform multiple operations seamlessly, maintaining the highest standards of component quality.
Key features of the VT850 include a double row cylindrical roller bearing, enhancing the spindle’s stiffness and rigidity. Its heavily ribbed, FEA optimized structures are crafted from FG300 cast iron, elevating the machine’s rigidity and vibration dampening capabilities. The VT850 can handle a maximum turning diameter of 850 mm, accommodating large part machining across various components. It also provides the option of achieving higher torque with a single-speed gearbox. Slides equipped with LM roller guideways enable the machine to manage heavy and intermittent cutting parameters effectively.
Additionally, the 30/22 kW high-power work spindle is a crucial feature, ensuring high cutting speeds and depths of cut. The VT850 also shines in its environmental consideration, featuring a hybrid lubrication system that reduces coolant contamination and operational costs. A notable advancement is the VT850’s industry 4.0 compatibility, which includes features like remote diagnostics and access to data for quick troubleshooting. This minimizes downtime and enhances overall productivity, making the VT850 a forward-thinking solution in modern machining.
With this launch, WIDMA reinforces its position as a leader in special purpose machines, tool and cutter grinding machines, and fixture and tooling solutions. The VT850 is a reflection of WIDMA’s commitment to delivering high-quality, innovative solutions that address the evolving needs of the machining industry. As WIDMA extends its global presence with more than 4000 installations worldwide, the introduction of the VT850 serves as a strong indication of the company’s commitment to superior engineering and fulfilling customer needs.
