Welspun Tubular LLC, a subsidiary of Welspun Corp Ltd, broke ground on the expansion of its High-Frequency Induction Welding (HFIW) pipe manufacturing plant in Little Rock, Arkansas. Announced on September 2, 2024, the $100 million investment will strengthen the company’s product offerings in the U.S. pipeline market. This development will create 175 new jobs and is set to be completed by March 2026.
Welspun Corp, a global leader in large-diameter line pipes, is among the top three manufacturers in this segment worldwide. Executives, including Chairman B.K. Goenka and Managing Director Vipul Mathur, attended the groundbreaking event, alongside state officials and community leaders.
Commenting on the expansion, Mr. Goenka stated, “We are delighted to expand our operations in Little Rock, a region where we have built a strong bond since our plant’s establishment in 2007. This investment will not only support our growth strategy but also contribute to local employment and economic development.”
Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders praised the project, highlighting its role in bolstering the region’s economic growth. She remarked, “The Port of Little Rock is emerging as a hub of industrial development, and this expansion reflects Arkansas’s commitment to fostering a pro-business environment.”
The upgrade will enable the facility to produce pipes with a diameter of up to 24 inches and a wall thickness of 0.75 inches, using grades up to X80. Once completed, the plant’s production capacity will reach 350 KMTPA. Welspun’s Arkansas journey began in 2007, with over $300 million invested in the facility to date.
