Websol Energy System Ltd is set to double its solar cell manufacturing capacity with the addition of a new 600 MW mono PERC cell line, scheduled to begin commercial production in October 2025. Once operational, the company’s total solar cell capacity will reach 1.2 GW. At present, Websol operates with 600 MW of mono PERC cell capacity and 550 MW in module manufacturing.

In the first quarter of FY 2026, Websol reported strong financial performance, posting INR 219 crore in revenue from operations—a 96% increase compared to the same period last year. Profit after tax stood at INR 67 crore, a 191% jump from INR 23 crore in Q1 FY 2025.

During the quarter, Websol also introduced solar kits for the Indian residential and small commercial markets. The company is in the advanced stages of finalizing multiple contracts with national and regional partners. These agreements are expected to bring in additional revenue streams, beyond module sales, and are closely aligned with major government programs like the PM-KUSUM Solar Pumps Scheme and the Domestic Content Requirement (DCR) policy.

Sohan Lal Agarwal, Managing Director of Websol, commented “India’s solar sector continues to gain momentum, supported by well-defined government policies and clear targets. As the nation moves toward achieving 280 GW of solar capacity by 2030, the need for efficient, high-quality solar products is growing. We are progressing as planned with the expansion of our manufacturing capabilities. Installation and trial runs of our new 600 MW line are scheduled for September, with commercial production starting the following month. This new addition will start contributing to revenue from the third quarter of FY 2026.”

Websol Energy System Limited is among the pioneering manufacturers of solar photovoltaic cells and modules in India, specializing in high-efficiency products built with advanced Mono PERC technology. The company primarily supplies solar cells within India, enabling module manufacturers to meet Domestic Content Requirement (DCR) norms, while its modules are marketed both domestically and internationally.

Its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, spread over about seven acres in the Falta Special Economic Zone, West Bengal, currently has a solar cell capacity of 600 MW and a module capacity of 550 MW. An additional 600 MW capacity is slated to commence commercial operations in October 2025.

Operating with an integrated production model—manufacturing both cells and modules in-house—Websol ensures greater supply chain control and flexibility to adapt to market trends. Strong partnerships with reputed clients, combined with supportive policy measures promoting local manufacturing and technology innovation, strengthen the company’s long-term position in the solar industry.
