Wardwizard Innovations & Mobility Ltd, the company behind electric two-wheelers under the Joy e-bike and Joy e-rik brands, has announced a major alliance with Battery Smart, a top player in India’s battery-swapping space. The collaboration aims to accelerate the growth of electric vehicles by introducing a cutting-edge battery-swapping system across Joy e-bike outlets.
As part of the agreement, Battery Smart will install its battery-swapping units at every Joy e-bike dealership. The move introduces a new “battery-as-a-service” approach, allowing buyers to purchase e-bikes without a battery and instead opt for rented power units. This model reduces upfront vehicle costs by approximately 20% to 30%, lowering the financial barrier for new EV users.
Riders will be able to rent and swap batteries on a usage-based pricing system, making it easier and more affordable to maintain electric vehicles. Dealerships and distributors will also benefit by hosting swapping points, which not only supports Battery Smart’s network expansion but also creates new income streams for these partners.
Initially, the battery-swapping solution will be compatible with Joy e-bike’s Globe and Gen Next models, with more models currently being developed to support the technology. These bikes will be able to use Battery Smart’s wide network of swap stations, already operational in cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. A broader national rollout is planned starting January 2026.
