Volvo Trucks has finalized a significant agreement with global logistics giant DSV for the delivery of 300 electric heavy trucks. This order stands as one of the largest commercial deals for Volvo’s electric trucks to date.
The collaboration between Volvo Trucks and DSV will see the deployment of these 300 zero-emission trucks across DSV’s operations in Europe. This initiative is a key part of DSV’s broader plan to integrate 2,000 electric trucks into its fleet by 2030. With this order, DSV will soon operate one of Europe’s largest fleets of heavy electric trucks.
In addition to the electric vehicles, the agreement also includes the delivery of 500 Volvo trucks equipped with highly fuel-efficient diesel and gas engines. These vehicles are scheduled for delivery between 2024 and 2026.
Roger Alm, President of Volvo Trucks, expressed pride in the strengthened partnership with DSV, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in achieving substantial CO2 reductions and advancing sustainable transport. Soren Schmidt, CEO of DSV Road, echoed these sentiments, highlighting the critical role of cross-sector collaboration in combating climate change.
Among the vehicles being supplied to DSV is the new Volvo FH Aero Electric, which features enhanced aerodynamics for improved energy efficiency. DSV, already the largest transporter of goods for the Volvo Group, currently operates electric trucks from Volvo in Sweden and Denmark.
The company has also installed charging infrastructure powered by solar energy at its distribution centers in these countries. Both DSV and Volvo Group are actively committed to the Science-Based Targets initiative, aligning their efforts with the climate goals set forth in the Paris Agreement.
