Volvo Eicher Commercial Vehicles (VECV), the joint venture (JV) between Volvo Group and Eicher Motors, has commenced its commercial operations at Bagroda truck manufacturing plant in Madhya Pradesh, the company recently announced in a statement. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minsiter Shivraj Singh Chouhan flagged off the new trucks rolled out from the new plant. He also inaugurated the new manufacturing facility.
VECV is a joint venture between Swedish automotive major Volvo group and India’s Eicher Motors. The company started its operation in 2008 and undertakes manufacturing of complete range of Eicher trucks and buses, Volvo Buses, exclusive distribution of Volvo Trucks in India, engine manufacturing and exports for Volvo Group, non-automotive engines and Eicher component business.

Commenting on the inauguration of the new plant Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan commented that he was delighted to see the dream gets into reality within two years infront of his eyes. “It’s an honour for me to inaugurate Bhopal plant of VECV along with Industry Policy and Investment Promotion minister, Madhya Pradesh, Shri Rajvardhan Singh Dattigaon”, added Mr. Chauhan.
Aligning with PM Modi’s Atmanirbhar Bharat abhiyan Madhya Pradesh Government is working on improving the Infrastructure, health and education, good governance, finance and employment in the state. Chief Minister Chauhan told that the new plant is expected to address the concerns of employment in the state,and offered all support for smooth operations.

Vinod Aggarwal, Managing Director & CEO of VECV said that apart from meeting the domestic demand, the new manufacturing facility will also be used for catering to new export markets. This will contribute to the clarion call of Prime Minister Modi’s Atmanirbhar Bharat abhiyan as well as Make in India initiatives, and also Volvo Eicher’s commitment to Make in Madhya Pradesh.
The Bagroda plant is the eighth VECV manufacturing facility and is set up with current 'Industry 4.0 standards'. VECV informed that in the first phase the plant's production unit will be of about 40,000 trucks. VECV through its eight plants is one of the large investors in Madhya Pradesh with investment of more than Rs. 5000 crores.
