Volvo Car India has launched The Reverse Project, aiming to reverse environmental damage by planting trees based on the mileage driven on electric vehicles (EVs) of any brand. Partnering with ASSOCHAM, they will plant 10,000 trees to turn an urban dump yard in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, into a green urban forest.

Volvo will plant 5 trees for each of its EVs sold and 4 trees for other EV owners who join the project. EV owners can have trees named after them based on their mileage. Non-EV owners can also pledge and have 3 trees named for them.

Jyoti Malhotra, Managing Director of Volvo Car India, highlighted that this initiative allows all car owners in India to help reverse environmental damage. For every 5,000 kilometers driven in an EV, 4 trees will be named after the owner. Non-EV users can have 3 trees named after them upon taking a pledge.

Volvo Car India will care for the urban forest for the next four years. The initiative has already transformed a landfill into a green space. The project supports Volvo’s goal of achieving net carbon neutrality by 2040.

Jyotsana Singh Kaushik, Director of Marketing and PR at Volvo Car India, emphasized the company’s commitment to safety and sustainability. Deepak Sood, Secretary General of ASSOCHAM, praised the collaboration for its positive environmental impact and support for a sustainable future.
