Vivo Mobile India was granted a partial occupancy certificate for 62 acres of land in Noida’s Sector 24A by the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) on Tuesday. This development represents one of YEIDA’s major projects, with the total built-up area for the facility amounting to 1.6 lakh square meters.

Vivo had applied for the certificate in April, following which an inspection was conducted in June. The company was initially allocated 169 acres of land in November 2018 to establish assembly and surface-mount technology (SMT) lines. So far, 156 acres have been received, with the remainder still pending.

Vivo Mobile India was granted a 25% subsidy and a complete waiver of stamp duty at the time of land allotment. The project is planned in two phases: the first phase aims to produce 60 million smartphones annually and create 22,000 jobs. Upon completion of both phases, the annual production capacity is expected to reach 120 million smartphones, generating an additional 16,000 employment opportunities. Vivo has committed an investment of Rs 6,690 crore for the entire project.

YEIDA has set a goal to launch 200 companies in the township by December of this year. As of now, 91 companies have had their layout plans approved, with eight already beginning production. Notable companies that have commenced manufacturing include Avery Dennison, Surya Global Flexi Films, and Bikanerwala. The development will feature 136 companies in the Toy Park and 81 in the Apparel Park, with ongoing construction expected to create approximately 200,000 jobs in the region.
