Visteon Corporation has launched production of high-resolution camera systems and display backlight units at its facility in Chennai, India. This marks a significant step in the company’s efforts to expand local manufacturing capabilities and strengthen its global supply chain. The move is supported by an initial investment of $10 million and is part of Visteon’s broader strategy to bring more component manufacturing in-house.

The newly added production lines are designed to build both analog and digital cameras with resolutions ranging from 1.3 to 8 megapixels. These systems are engineered to integrate with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), enhancing vehicle safety features such as parking assistance, maneuvering support, and navigation. The cameras are also compatible with modern high-definition in-vehicle displays.

Visteon President and CEO Sachin Lawande emphasized that India is a key market in the company’s vertical integration efforts. By localizing the manufacturing of critical components like cameras and backlight units, Visteon aims to improve its operational agility and better serve global automotive manufacturers.

This latest expansion complements the company’s existing display manufacturing activities in India, allowing for a more unified and efficient approach to building integrated cockpit solutions. The combination of component and final product assembly at a single location supports streamlined production and faster delivery times.

Headquartered in Van Buren Township, Michigan, Visteon operates in 17 countries and focuses on digital cockpit electronics and connected vehicle technologies. In 2024, the company reported annual revenue of approximately $3.87 billion and secured $6.1 billion in new business contracts.

The Chennai facility will serve both domestic and international markets, reinforcing Visteon’s commitment to supplying advanced automotive technologies for passenger cars, commercial vehicles, and two-wheelers. The company works closely with major global original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and delivers a wide range of products including displays, software platforms, and vehicle electrical system solutions. Visteon is listed on the NASDAQ stock exchange under the symbol VC and operates through a network of global innovation centers and production facilities.
