Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) recently celebrated the achievements of Peruri Lakshmi Sahasra, a talented young artist hailing from Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. She was recognized for her remarkable accomplishment as one of the Best Finalists in the prestigious 17th Toyota Dream Car Art Contest (TDCAC) Global Competition.

Her exceptional artwork, aptly named Toyota’s Memory Car, earned her a distinguished position among the top 26 finalists worldwide, selected from an astounding 712,845 entries spanning across 90 countries. As a finalist in the 12-15 age category, Sahasra was awarded a generous prize of USD 3,000, highlighting the significance of her contribution.

The Toyota Dream Car Art Contest, which was initiated by Toyota Motor Corporation back in 2004, serves as a global platform designed to encourage children to unleash their creativity by designing their own “dream cars” and envisioning the future of mobility. Since the contest’s inception, it has seen participation from over 9.4 million children across 144 countries, showcasing a diverse array of artistic interpretations and innovative ideas.

The competition caters to young artists under the age of 15, dividing participants into three distinct age categories: those under 7, those aged 8 to 11, and the 12 to 15 age group. This year, the contest culminated in the selection of 26 global winners, among which Sahasra stood out for her imaginative and creative entry.

Sahasra’s design, Toyota’s Memory Car, was lauded not only for its artistic merit but also for its originality and innovative concept. The artwork presents a visionary vehicle that journeys through various moments in life, symbolizing the preservation of cherished memories, all while being powered by an eco-friendly engine. This forward-thinking design reflects a blend of creativity and a commitment to sustainability, aligning with the global movement towards greener transportation solutions.

In a statement regarding this notable achievement, Sabari Manohar, the Vice President of Sales, Service, and Used Car Business at TKM, expressed his admiration for young talents like Sahasra. He remarked, “It is truly inspiring to witness young individuals like Ms. Sahasra conceptualizing vehicles that resonate with Toyota’s vision for a sustainable future. The Dream Car Art Contest provides children from around the globe the opportunity to explore their creative potential and consider the future of transportation in innovative ways.”

Sahasra, who is currently a student at Sri Prakash Vidyanikethan in Visakhapatnam, shared her enthusiasm about receiving this honor. She stated, “Participating in this contest has been an incredible experience, allowing me to delve into how future vehicles could positively influence the world. I am genuinely thankful to Toyota for creating such an inspiring platform.”

Her artwork was chosen through a series of national contests held globally from December 2023 to March 2024, with the final global winners being determined in March 2024. This recognition not only highlights her artistic talent but also her ability to conceptualize meaningful ideas that reflect a hopeful and sustainable future.
