The VNH9030AQ integrated full-bridge DC motor driver is designed to support a variety of automotive applications, including those requiring functional safety. Featuring advanced diagnostics, this driver includes a dedicated pin for real-time output status, reducing the need for additional circuitry and simplifying the bill of materials. With a 30mΩ RDS(on) per leg, the VNH9030AQ is well-suited for mid- and low-power DC motor applications, such as door-control modules, washer pumps, powered lift gates, powered trunks, and seat adjusters.
The driver enhances overall system efficiency by incorporating integrated, non-dissipative current-sensing circuitry, which monitors the current in each motor phase, eliminating the need for extra components. The low standby power consumption, even across a broad temperature range, makes it ideal for use in zonal controller platforms.
The VNH9030AQ integrates high-side and low-side MOSFETs with gate drivers, along with built-in protection against overvoltage transients, undervoltage, short circuits, and cross-conduction. The flexibility to configure the MOSFETs in either parallel or series modes offers versatility for multi-motor systems or specific application requirements.
This driver is part of a series utilizing ST’s latest VIPower M09 technology, enabling efficient, monolithic integration of power and logic components. All products in the series come in a thermally optimized 6mm x 6mm triple-pad QFN package, designed to enhance cooling efficiency, and share a common pinout for easier layout and software reuse. The VNH9030AQ is currently in production and is priced at $2.48 per unit for orders of 1,000 pieces.
